Before I went to this museum, I gave a one star because I was struggling to find a number to call to see if it is open or not. I had to call the chamber of commerce to see what the hours are. I was told that they only open on Saturdays. I went to go see the museum and it was very nice. It had a lot of stuffs on the bottom floor. It is a little crowed and there are sooooooooooo much to see. From what I seen and mostly gathered is that the stuffs on the first floor are pretty much all from O'Donnell. If you want to see about Dan Blocker, be prepare to read a lot. There are a lot of information about Dan Blocker. My favorite thing that I saw was the machine to make newspapers. That was really cool to see. Then upstairs was okay, it was just mostly what the early 1900 or earlier looked. Then we got to see a small part of Dan Blocker in the Bonanza. That was pretty cool to look at too. It is a small museum and I would loved to see more about Dan Blocker but I still thought that the museum was cool with all the stuffs that were used in O'Donnell. The museum is free but I still gave some money for donation. The money helps keep the museum in shape. I hope this museum last for a long time because O'Donnell is becoming to be a ghost town. If you would like to see and feel the era of what the early 1900 or earlier is, I'd go take a tour at the O'Donnell Heritage Museum now before the town becomes a ghost town and then what will happen to the museum?

P.S. Don't forget to go behind the building to look at them old machine and old tractors.

Got here and found out it is closed on Mondays. They have some old farm equipment on the north and west side of the museum. Went across the street to the southeast to a small park and took a picture of Dan Blockers bust. There was a nice lady who saw us and said she would see if a person could open the museum for us but she came back and said she couldn't find anyone to open it up. Sad we couldn't see the museum however the people in town were nice.

I haven't visited yet... but it's on my list. I grew up in Lubbock; my great grandmother graduated in O'Donnell in 1930. She went on to live a glorious tale of homesteading the frontier in western New Mexico... I'm curious if there are any remnants of her from the past nestled here in this museum...

If you have a few minutes you should step back in time into this small west Texas town. O'Donnell was the center of the cotton boom and home of the first fully automatic cotton gin in North America. They have collections devoted to Dan Blocker, Bonanza's "Hoss Cartwright". O'Donnell was the childhood home of Dan and you can even find the store front of the old Blocker grocery store still in town.
