This is a rental property, and you are not able to go inside unless you have rented it. According to our tour guide, you had better get your reservations WAY in advance.

Unless your willing to ignore a lot of things wrong I wouldn't stay here. Me and my mom went to stay here at Andy's homeplace this last weekend and I was very disappointed with how the place was and how we were treated. When we arrived at the house after spending the day at Mt, Airy we noticed hardly any of the lights worked in the whole place and after paying 285 dollars for the night that was very disappointing. There weren't any trash bags as well and whoever cleaned left their supplies everywhere. The house is looking a little run down as well especially the backyard where the fence has fallen over. After 3 people came to look around for a couple of hours they said they are gonna have to go get lamps and I didn't pay to sit in the dark when in my opinion that is a very basic thing that should be provided. (To top it off we couldn't even watch the show in the house which was suggested on the website because there was no way to watch it. No DVD, VHS or even on demand cable episodes) we went to the Hampton that owns and operates the house and I was told I can get a free room at the hotel and I could talk to the manager about a refund later so the next morning the manager said that I'll get a call Monday and a check in the mail for a refund well I called today and I was told I couldn't get one and I am very upset. Unless your willing to overlook some basic things to stay here it's not worth it especially when you people constantly stop to take pictures. I will not be returning and I am so disappointed as a huge fan of the show it's a massive let down.

My husband, my dad, and I visited Andy Griffiths' childhood home. We stayed in our vehicle because the home was occupied. Very nice to see.

Love this little town. Lots of history here.
Stop by here on my way out of town, heading to barneys downtown for breakfast.
Lots of fun memorabilia available too.

Love being here and the town is so quaint. I will return to visit again but disappointed that to stay in Andy’s house you have to stay at least 2 nights. I cannot afford that and my sister and I can only stay on a one night anywhere. Limited income. Very disappointing. We did not get to go inside as someone was staying there.

So neat to see Andy's childhood home and as luck would have it, a touring cop car was stopped in front which made for the perfect photo op! You can stay here as its an Airbnb.

It was a blast, Andy Griffith is my all time favorite. So awesome to see where he grew up!!!
