Very knowledgeable docent who was able to answer most of my questions.

Lovely historic home with a great story of how the house went from a slave owning family to a descendant of a slave living there until her death.

A real gem! This museum is a testament to the rich history of this area and it carefully preserves that history while respectfully and directly acknowledging the unsavory chapter of enslaved peoples in the area during that era.
Knowledgeable staff, very clean facilities and restrooms. Wheelchair accessible.

The tour of the house it’s free closes at 4pm, but you can walk the grounds until sunset. I like that you can call in a number at each important site on the grounds to learn more about the history.

This is a restored plantation. Since this had less ownership changes, it has a lot of original things and intact history. Loved the detailed tour done with Mat. He told us a lot about the history of Georgia and the house and families that built halls around Roswell. There is a self guided tour available too. We went on a weekend so it wasn’t too crowded.
The directions to parking are very confusing in the google maps. Probably better to put city hall in the navigation. The parking lot for the plantation and the hall is the same but different assigned areas. The main road where the navigation took us was not an entrance at all, but a side road.
We enjoyed our visit.

*Affordable for large families. AAA discount and -$1 for kiddos. CASH ONLY. :)*

•This was a neat little plantation tour. Loads of information about the Civil War and the Smith family. We we're a party of 12 with 7 kiddos. Our guide was very friendly and great with answering our kiddos questions. Very patient. We loved walking around and seeing all the original works of the home. Beautiful home and grounds. Must see!

When the guided tour was done she led us outside to tour on our own. She did warn us that there have been sightings of copperhead snakes which I personally appreciated since we had little ones with us. (We didn't have an issue with seeing them).

Don't pass this place up. You will enjoy. 🙂

Great tour. Really interesting history and a beautiful, haunted-seeming home. Highly recommend, and not far from Atlanta.
