My father was brought to Atrium Union after falling due to severe dehydration and low heart rate. Dr. Reddy was his attending and he was excellent. Compassionate and attentive. Cardiologist Dr. Zimmerman was also terrific. Where Atrium falls short is the care from the floor nursing. My sisters and I stayed by his bedside 24/7 because if we didn’t, my father (who had Alzheimer’s dementia) would not have eaten or drank anything. He also would have tried to get up and he was a severe fall risk. They also let him sit in a soiled bed for up to an hour. Every time I went out to the hallway, there were several nurses and assistants just standing around. One nurse, J. , was particularly awful as she would gaslight our family saying, “you asked us not to disturb him” while ignoring his suffering. Always smiling insincerely. There were many bright spots with the staff, Howard, Q, Courtney to name a few. Ones who showed true compassion but the overworked and unmotivated staff left a bad impression on us and we would never recommend this hospital.

A family member ended up here in the ER. The entire staff was so kind and understanding. From the moment we walked in, the security person was very nice to us, the next stop, the check-in person was nice. I cannot give enough praise to Dr. Kastner and RN Chelsea for the attention given to our loved one. They were very personable and knowledgeable and provided us with such good information. They made a very stressful situation more tolerable. They explained everything to us so we could care for our family member at home. Our patient has mentioned several times that everyone was so nice to him before we got there. Thank you for the work you are doing. You all made a great impression on our family.

The ER doesn’t even deserve one star. If I could give ZERO I would. To begin, I sat in the ER waiting area for over THREE hours in agonizing pain, and was told “you just have to wait” even though people were coming in after me and being seen. I had chills and shakes. I was seen by triage and blood was taken. When I finally get seen in the back hours later, I get told “we have to take another sample because our machine messed up the samples.” Which okay, I understand. But at that point I had been sitting for hours, and I had become dehydrated. The nurse didn’t care. She tried to forcibly pull blood from my vein even though the IV was clotted. Excruciatingly painful to the point where I was sobbing and shaking. I was told I needed to stop moving so much and relax. This went on for at least 15 minutes. She proceeded to also try and draw from two other places, but couldn’t, because I was dehydrated. Never once did they push fluids through the IV. Just saline to “flush” the vein real quick to try again. After that I’m finally seen and given the CAT scan. I was told “results should be in within 30 minutes.” Nope. An hour and a half passed before anyone came with the results. Great. In the meantime I had to ask for blankets TWICE. Just to have the blankets tossed to my by a doctor. Not even unfolded or draped on me or anything. Bedside manner NONEXISTENT. I’m FINALLY discharged around 11pm. After spending 6 hours in the ER……. but my hell wasn’t over. There was an issue with the Walgreens because I am a Veteran and I’m usually seen at the VA. My benefits couldn’t transfer over. So the next morning, I had to call the ER again to try and get it rectified and sent over. The nurse on the phone was EXTREMELY rude, had a condescending attitude. She refused to help me, and she said “I don’t know what you want me to do, I just have to sit here and hear you cry?” After I was just trying to get it rectified so I could get my medication. I was begging for a resolution and it felt like talking to a wall. There isn’t an OUNCE of empathy at this hospital, at least in the ER department. I would’ve been better off driving over an HOUR to Salisbury to be seen at the VA. Or maybe just dying at that point. They would probably just rather that so they wouldn’t have to do their jobs. -100000/10 ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND.

My wife is in the CCU/ICU here in Monroe she was/is very sick but getting better. The staff in the CCU/ICU are amazing. Her nurses Christian, Olivia and Kerissa and others are simply the best. They are kind, knowledgeable and very professional. There were other nurses too, but i don't remember their names, as these are the ones we dealt with the most. This staff has from the very moment we rolled through the doors have been so respectful, to both their patient and me. THANK YOU!!! And GOD BLESS the CCU/ICU staff.

Horrible experience all around. Disorganization and miscommunication amongst the medical staff, and an overall lack of humanity towards patients. The staff is slow to talk about diagnoses but quick to ensure they have your billing information correct so they can strangle every last penny out of ya.

I can’t say enough about the care my mom has gotten here ! She originally went to atrium west . Was there a couple days and transferred here to Monroe due to her kidney function. The communication and care here, is the absolute best ! She is on the 4th floor, Howard who is the floor supervisor ( I believe) made sure we understood everything, gave us his number if we needed anything ! The nurses, Nicole, Lily, Tera are so caring, kind and just amazing ! Every doctor , everyone here is just wonderful and so helpful! I’m beyond happy with her care here. Thank you to all of the staff, nurses and Dr.’s here, ya’ll are the BEST!! Very very thankful

This team did an excellent job caring for my little one. The doctors and nurses were so diligent, attentive, and I appreciated how they fully explained the process and diagnosis along the way. Some true gems on your team that really made all the difference Nurses Veronica, Leslie, and Page and Dr. Christy. Dr. David Marseille I hope you have a long career in pediatrics, you’re the first doctor to interact with my baby to analyze the things I could miss as a parent. What a refreshing delight you are for children. Thank you all so so much for your tender care in such a stressful time. Baby is doing excellent and made a full recovery 💙💛

A coworker needed a ride to the hospital in Monroe. His mother had a stroke and was not doing well.
I'm not a big fan of hospitals and most certainly don't care much at all for the food that they serve.
By the time that we arrived, it was going on noon and I hadn't eaten breakfast or lunch.
After visiting for a bit, I went looking for the hospital cafeteria; I was absolutely famished.
Bar none, this was absolutely, hands down, the very best hospital food that I've ever eaten.
Oven baked chicken breast, chicken tenders, a hamburger patty and steamed broccoli. That huge plate of food was under 10$. The beverages are considerably more expensive.
I try to avoid hospitals at any and all costs. But, I really enjoy writing the reviews and taking pictures.
And yes, as expected, everything is handicap accessible and immaculately maintained. Whether you're on the hospital ward, or the cafeteria. I was suitably impressed.
