Wow! I was surprised at all of the negative reviews for Austin Regional Clinic at Anderson Mill Road! In the roughly 15 years that I've received medical attention there, I honestly can't think of a single negative experience. Just the opposite, actually! Having received a hip replacement recently, I qualify for ARC Disability Services, run by a warm-hearted nurse named Mary Keefe. She just spent 15 minutes on the phone explaining some complicated (at least to me ; - ) test results, and I'm certain she didn't do so to run up the bill!

Wanted to sing my praises to Dr. Adeline Yu. I hadn't seen a doctor in a while, and when I came in last week I had 3 completely separate things to address. I took quite a bit of her time (sorry for the person after me!) but she was very patient, understanding, helpful, and professional but also laid back. I felt like she really didn't judge me at all she was friendly and stayed focused on the reasons I came to see her. Just overall made the transition to a new doctor feel really easy, especially because one of the things I was there for was a referral (she helped me understand that process).

As far as the ARC clinic itself, I have nothing bad to say. There's a big waiting room that extended into a kind of separated kids area with a Disney movie going, so if you have kids that might be good to know. I came a few minutes early because I filled out the paperwork online before hand. There was one sheet I needed to fill out when I got there, but didn't have time to fill it out because I was seen right away! Stayed afterwards to complete it.

Went in for an appointment. Let the nurse and Dr Yu know I was traveling to Tanzania and wanted to know what vaccinations I should get. I had researched ahead of time and had an idea but wanted to confirm. She made no attempt to assist me with the vaccinations. She just referred me to Passport Clinic. Passport clinic does not accept insurance at all. Why would I want to go to an office that doesn’t take the insurance I pay thousands of dollars for when there are providers that do take it? You couldn’t help me with a polio booster and a hep A vaccine? Really?

I saw Dr Wong because I have had chronic neck pain for several months. I figured It was time to get it checked out. I told him I'd been taking 6 ibuprofen a day to relieve the pain. He just stared at me in disbelief that I was taking so many ibuprofen and said he hoped my kidneys were ok. Then he gave me a referral to a physical therapist and sent me on my way. I called the physical therapist today and they don't take my insurance. I started to think about my visit with him and felt I really needed a second opinion..I saw a new dr today at cedar park family care center. The care I got there was superior by far. First difference was the Dr ordered a blood test to check my kidneys because of the ibuprofen usage, (if he was so worried about my kidneys instead of making snark comments he could have done the same theres a lab in the clinic) she prescribed me a safer option of anti-inflammatories i will only need one a day and she ordered xrays of my neck ( theres an xray machine at arc too) and i should have results tomorrow. I was relieved she cared enough to find out the problem before sending me blindly to physical therapy. I will never go back to ARC and I'm so glad I made the decision to go somewhere else

Update
Got my xrays back and have degenerative cervical spondylosis.and a condition called straightening of the spine ...in other words i have a chronic vertebrae disease. Good to know ...zero thanks to Dr Wong.

I will say one nice thing. The people at the desk were very nice . They should train the Dr's on how not to be condescending and incompetent.
It really takes alot for me to post a bad review. I'll do a good review in a heartbeat no matter where it Is. Even a convenient store clerk. Dr's should be held up to a higher standard honestly

Here's my frustrating experience for your consideration. I had a well documented medical issue. Came in for a visit on a referral basis. After hearing my situation for 10 minutes, the doctor said he couldn't do anything for me. Fine that's fair, we leave on good terms.

But a week later they bill me $162.08 for "being a new patient" when the doctor literally just had a 10 minute conversation where he said he couldn't do anything.

Edit:
Look, it's fine if a doctor says "I can't do anything for you." I respect that, and frankly so should the administrators of any healthcare provider. But if you can't do ANYTHING for me, then why am I getting billed?

I had a great appointment with Dr. Adeline Yu! I wanted to share my experience as other reviews made me nervous. The staff were great, my appointment moved quickly, Dr. Yu listened to my concerns and we came up with a treatment plan together. I also got blood work done and had a great experience in the lab as well.

The other one-star comments really sum it up. Just had a visit earlier, and the nurse felt cold and ready to get out of there. The doctor was knowledgeable and did what she needed to do but felt rushed. And the lab tech seemed frustrated and arrogant. Overall, the visit felt unprofessional, uncaring, and felt like the fast-food chain of clinics

Man at check-in desk. (Dark hair at standing working station) opted to use translation services on speaker phone at a volume that allowed everyone in waiting room to hear every confidential detail. Highly inconsiderate to patient and guests in waiting room. Add to that no welcome, no hello, no nothing when walking in…overall very strange demeanor to place at the welcome desk. If you can make it past the check in desk, doctor Hooda is hands down the best doctor I ever had the pleasure to receive care from. She deserves a front desk rep to shine as she does and emulate the passion, warmth, and expertise she offers her patients.
