The oldest Courthouse in Michigan built in 1838 by James Lewis. The courthouse and other buildings served as the campus of Andrews University for the 2901-1902 scbool year. The SDA Church used the courthouse as a church until 1996. At this time the building is a museum.

The museum is a great place to visit. We met a nice gentleman who was setting up for some spooky ghost stories. Sadly we couldn't stay. But the cabin insides we incredibly with a double fireplace. We will come see it again in our lost in Michigan tour's.

What a great time this 4th of July! Pickle Fest was hosted on the Historical Association Square. Lots of local organizations and vendors participated, including great pickle themed food, games, and merchandise.

An amazing pickle tasting was held next door at the public library. Five local politicans gave stump speeches upstairs in the beautiful courtroom. The lovely museum downstairs was opened to the public.

The Berrien County Historical Association did a fantastic job hosting the Berrien Springs festival, and cooperated beautifully with the library, fire station, and other organizations. What a great job!

As if all the activities weren't enough, the politicians, local Blossomtime royalty, and Village Dillmeister mingled with the crowd, adding even more fun.

Kudos for being such great hosts while promoting our local and national history!

This is an excellent place to go if you want to learn more about the history of this county. Before working here, I had no idea how much of a figure this county was in history, but you'd be surprised. Bob is a very knowledgeable guy and is a great public speaker, you'd do well to sit in on one of his presentations. On the museum side of things, the staff is very helpful, and Bob and Cathy really made me feel like I was apart of the group. Please visit here if you live in the area!

I visited last summer. I loved it, and had a great experience. The two women working were very friendly. Since I was the only visitor during my visit, I had the chance to really soak it all in, and take plenty of pictures. Planning on visiting again this summer.

I love history and often structure my travels around visiting new historical locations. The History Center is the oldest surviving county government complex in the Midwest. Visitors can self-tour the 1839 Berrien Co Courthouse, an 1830 log house, an 1870 sheriff's residence and jail plaza, and a working forge. The center also had extensive archive collections.
