My husband and I enjoyed going through all the different original buildings. Everything was well done in period style. The train depot was exceptional. We could wander from room to room in all the structures without any area being cordoned off. Don’t miss the story about the local locomotive that completely disappeared!!

Really neat little museum. Cost is $5 a person to get in but you get a little guided tour and the artifacts are explained. Everything is local to the area and was donated by people of Strasburg. The school houses, homestead house and train depot were all moved from the original locations in Strasburg but they are set up how they were back then. Everything is really neat to see. The homestead house was my favorite! So many cool pieces in the other parts of the museums. Strasburg was where the transcontinental railroad formed. A nice little slice of US history right here in Strasburg Colorado.

This is a phenomenal labor of love by citizens of Strasburg. The museum is extensive and well curated, with numerous historic buildings from the local area. Ask about the untold story of the first "real" transcontinental railway.

While we were unable to go in. We were their to see the Big Boy 4014. I would recommend what we were able to see.

We arrived while it was closed. We saw the train car and the rail way but there was no explanation about if that was the actual place of the transcontinental meeting or if that was just symbolic. Overall cute little stop and probably better if it was open to get a better feel for what's happening. Unfortunately, like so many other places of this nature, they seem to be crumbling and withering away due to lack of funding or interest. It's sad because a lot of people put a lot of blood and sweat into that railway.

This was a pleasant surprise to our family. We expected a small town museum of mid grade interest but instead we found a museum curated with interesting artifacts. We actually have enjoyed it so much we've visited more than once.
