This is a wonderful place to visit in the heart of Downtown Wilmington, if you want to learn about the history of that city and the state. It has fun collection of exhibits that cover early history of the region, the African-American history, the various ethnic groups that settled in Delaware, as well as the economic history. The building connect to the Old Town Hall, a beautiful building used by Delaware Shakespeare, music assembled and speakers for events. It has good acoustics and good open space energy. The Society offers events every month and sometimes participated in monthly Art Loop. I just wish that the store had more interesting/creative items to sell.

Located on the grounds of the Delaware Historical Society is the Job & Mary Jacobs House. This beautifully preserved patterned brick house was built in 1748 and was originally located on West Second Street. This house, along with three other restored 18th century homes occupy the square that is maintained by the historical society. The houses can be visited during historical society hours.

Place was recommended by the city but it was not accessible to the public. No signage for visitors to follow. I was very disappointed as I looking forward to get the history from that handle
