This place is special. The Orange Heart Medal ceremony touched me. It was for my deceased father and so many more Vietnam Veterans who were never honored or recognized when they returned back to the USA, 50 years ago. Take a look at the photos. Understand this. There is a memorial wall in SPRINGFIELD Tenn. that will inscribe your family member as a tribute for the service he gave this country. It only costs $150. They will read his name outloud every March 29th. America should be doing more for Vietnam Vets who died from Agent Orange. This museum honors soldiers across the state.

This is a beautiful museum in Kinston dedicated to all the veterans from Lenoir Country who served their country. Includes a gift shop, snacks, and a beautiful walkthrough of the museum.

Whether you are visiting Kinston or you live here, I would highly recommend you take the time to visit the museum. The exhibits are constantly updated, and they tell the story of Lenoir County veterans from the American Revolution to the present. Definitely a must see to teach your children about the history of this country and those who made a difference.

My husband is a disable vet with PTSD and he talked to the guy who runs this place. He was told to come down and check it out. We arrived 30 minutes before they were supposed to close. It's not a lot of time, but there was enough time to talk about the gaming system that is supposed to help with PTSD. My husband was not having a very good day and needed some insite into this game and how it is supposed to help. We arrived. The door was open, we walked in, and no one was around. I walked all over that place and heard people laughing and talking, called out to them, and had no response. We stepped next door for ice cream for 5 minutes, there were 20 minutes left till they were supposed to close. When I walked back over, the door was locked, the lights were out, and they were gone. I can tell you I am not pleased at all. Kinda felt like they heard me calling to them and waited till we left to come out and close up. I thought this place was supposed to help our vets.

You must visit! A small group of us stopped in for a few hours in July. Weren't sure what to expect and were very pleasantly surprised at the museum. Tons of artifacts and well done exhibits covering the many wars and military actions the US has been involved in. Loved the focus on NC folks (many of them local to the area) who have joined the various branches of military service. The volunteers were very friendly and enjoyed delving into stories about what we were looking at. The museum is large and well laid out. Even has a movie theatre, snack bar and gift shop. It also houses an art studio where military and their family can come. The focus is art therapy. All their art is on display and also can be purchased at a nominal price. The funds support the continuing work of the classes. Don't let the strip mall location deter you. This museum has some city and state support but operates on donations from visitors. Just go!

The museum is very nice. Not a lot of people there but it does feature the local in state veterans. Some wonderful history in which you can Kearney about the sacrifices made for their country. There are a lot of Medal of Honor recipients from the North Carolina area starting with the revolutionary war to the end of of Vietnam. There is a section that has been started for The Iraq and Afghanistan war. There is no entrance fee but donation are accepted. Come by and see the history of our state.
