We love going to the library. I take my 8 yr old & 3 yr old there quite often and they fully enjoy it but are respectful of others and are quiet while we're there. Now I can't say the same for others that visit the library (Main Library-Lillington). Almost every time we have gone up there, there has been lots of inconsiderate individuals up there being loud. Loud enough that you can hear their entire conversations from across the building and it sounds like they're standing right beside you talking in your ear. A library is supposed to be a quiet relaxed area for people to go to to read and study. Some can stay focused even with lots of noise but most go to a quiet spot so they can concentrate. That's not possible when others are treating the library as a social gathering spot to chat and cackle loudly as if they're in a park or the mall. The staff are very friendly & helpful. The noise level though needs to be handled. There's a foyer area outside of the library area that has tables and chairs and even a small coffee bakery area. Please go out there for your lengthy social chats. Others don't care to hear about your hemorrhoids, your supper you cooked 3 nights ago, or how you need to edit your video before posting it on social media. Please be respectful and have some common courtesy for those trying to read or study at the library, since it's suppose to be a quiet location.

I am writing to express my absolute outrage and profound disappointment regarding the library’s appalling decision to deny the display of "Know Your Rights" cards (at VERY LEAST) under the baseless claim that doing so would be "borderline giving legal advice." This spineless stance is not only legally unfounded but also a blatant dereliction of the library’s duty to provide critical, fact-based information to the public. It is also fundamentally at odds with the library’s primary mission—to provide access to knowledge, resources, and information that empower and educate the public.

Libraries serve as vital institutions for democracy, intellectual freedom, and civic engagement. The "Know Your Rights" materials do not constitute legal advice; they are factual, constitutionally grounded resources that inform the public of their rights under the law. This is no different from displaying voter registration information, tax forms, or pamphlets about consumer protection—all of which provide essential, publicly available legal knowledge without crossing into legal counsel. Refusing to provide easily accessible information about constitutional rights—rights that apply to every person in this country regardless of status—is an abdication of responsibility.

Again, "Know Your Rights" materials are not legal opinions—they are established facts about constitutional rights that every individual is entitled to, regardless of citizenship status. By refusing to display them, your institution is actively suppressing vital information and failing in its core mission. Turning a blind eye to the needs of marginalized communities and denying them easy access to information that could protect their basic freedoms is nothing short of complicity in systemic disenfranchisement. The library should be a beacon of truth and accessibility, not a cowardly gatekeeper hiding behind groundless legal concerns.

By refusing to display these materials, the library is willfully contributing to the very dangerous bystander effect (Re: the Germans passivity and indifference to the 11 million victims of the Holocaust). When institutions, particularly those entrusted with public education and knowledge, shy away from providing critical information, they foster an environment where ignorance prevails, and vulnerable populations are left unsupported. The notion that individuals must actively seek out such knowledge rather than have it readily accessible is a failure in public service and a disservice to the very community the library claims to serve.

Public libraries have long been champions of free speech, civil rights, and access to unbiased information. This decision undermines that legacy and signals a troubling shift away from the principles of equity and accessibility. At a time when misinformation and fear often drown out facts, libraries should be steadfast in their mission to equip the public with knowledge, not retreat into unnecessary caution at the expense of those who need it most. By blocking these materials, you are not only failing your patrons but also eroding the trust and respect that public institutions must uphold. This decision is shameful, indefensible, and a direct contradiction of the principles upon which libraries were built.

Huggeee library!

Always very clean. Huge selection of DVDs for kids AND adults!! It’s TWO floors. They have an iPad station for the kids as well. The building is super new! The bathrooms are always very clean. They even have a water bottle filling station. Parking is easy and plentiful. Very convenient. Everyone is always super nice and eager to help.

They are always helpful when I need something. I have gotten back into reading more books since the spring and I've gotten several books between the Lillington location and Dunn location. Both are convenient. The online renewal is very helpful! I appreciate the library it's a nice place to visit in my spare time.

It was great! Jonathan was so Helpful, & KIND. HE knew Everything to do to help get statements off my phone & get them all printed, to help my friend. And he also Managed Everything the staff & Other guest needed help with. If Heather isn't there, I sure will ask for Johnathan. Great Job Sir Johnathan!!! GOD Bless You!!!

Did not get to go inside due to COVID and not sure if they were open yet, but it is the new location for the Veterans Services office, facing the tax and deeds offices, where I needed to be on the 12th of April 2021.
