My wife and I visited the Henry Whitfield State Museum on 10/3/2024, and it was a wonderful experience. The museum is housed in a charming 17th-century building, which adds an authentic touch to the historical exhibits. The three floors are packed with interesting artifacts and furniture from the time, and the staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, providing plenty of background information that enhanced our experience. It wasn’t busy at all, making it even more enjoyable. We left feeling like we’d stepped back in time—definitely worth a visit!

9.14.24 This is a quick stop. The grounds are nice and well maintained. Lots of free parking. A minimal fee to go into the home. If you're into history this is a great, local gem.

Beautifully maintained grounds and buildings. Wonderful to experience the actual home and gain a true gut sense of the colonist’s life, challenges, and daily delights. Docent knew her spiel.
Downstairs and upstairs open to view.
Little pricey for the length of the “tour”
Near other historic homes and town fairground. Lovely area.

I was looking to fill some time with my kid on a Friday in the summer so we checked out the museum. The staff were kind and helpful. We spent most of our time digging for treasures and learning about the SCSU's ongoing excavation on the property. There is plenty of parking and washrooms on site.

I've been to this museum twice, roughly ten years apart. Both times it was awesome. The building is amazing, looking very medieval with its huge stone walls. It is very old, for this country, built 1639/40 a time when the New England colonies were still using pikes, matchlock muskets, armor and still believed in witchcraft.

You get to explore the large house on a self guided tour, looking at various artifacts. The colonial clock and Wheelock musket in the Garret were some of my favorite pieces. I also really liked the write up about the house as you come in.

The staff is very friendly (both visits) and informative about the area. I will definitely return one day.

The place is also gorgeous with a large green around it.

It was very well organized and the artifacts assembled and explained in the colonial house were quite good.
