This historic home is amazing and definitely worth a visit! Our tour guide, Shelba, was incredibly knowledgeable and made the history of the home unfold before our eyes. We appreciated being able to tour all three floors of the home as well as the barn. Such a beautiful property with such a rich and interesting history. We loved it!

Booked our wedding here where we paid for the venue which was an arbor and a full service as you can see in the pic. When we arrived the tables were all sat out but we had to set them up the way we wanted them set up. We had to sweep up leaves and stuff before our event but didn’t think anything of it since there was a breeze. The event went well and at the end we tidied up a bit because we were under the impression that we had paid for a post event clean up. Since that was in the description we were given. We made sure everything got into trash cans and tried to sweep up most of the stuff left on the floor. To include the flower pedals and etc… so fast forward 20 days and we had heard nothing back regarding our event or the deposit so my mom called to check on it. They informed her that the place had been left a mess during some event and that they were reviewing the photos and would get back to her. Another week went by and no one had still reached out to us so my mom called back again only to be told that the clean up crew had arrived the following morning to a horrible disaster and it took them 4+ hrs to clean. So my mom requested the pictures. Those pictures are also attached. Now, looking at the pics you can see that everything made it to a trash can. And only a few last min pieces were not in bags. Some of the bags leaked. And we do feel bad about that but we can’t see anything that requires 4+ hrs of cleaning or our entire deposit. As you can see some of the pictures sent we were trying to figure out what the picture was showing. Especially since the package we selected included post event clean up. And the fact that they didn’t even reach out to us regarding the situation after the event or after my mom’s initial call about the deposit really shows a lack of profession of the staff of this place. I love history, I am a descendant of the Carson’s on my dads side of the family and my parents were married on the exact same property 20+ years prior. However, I’m afraid this is were it will end for us. I guess you have to make your money to keep it open some how. You are welcome for the donation. =\

Can’t say enough great things about this tour! From the rich history to the knowledgeable tour guides, this place was such a great experience. Chuck and Amy were particularly helpful in teaching us all about the Carson home and its many generations of history. You can tell they’re passionate about what they do which made this experience so much better☺️

Attended an outdoor wedding here, there was quite a bit of noise from the businesses to the left side of the barn. That was the only downside. Very pretty, sweet areas for photos and reception. *Space to be outside and socially distanced, hand washing, etc if that's a need.
Easy parking, it had rained for three days before and paths were still well maintained and no mud. You feel like you are back away from things but easy to get catering and guests there.

Great part of North Carolina’s history. We had a wonderful docent that shared stories and history about Mr Carson and his family. Little kiddos may be a little restless because there is a lot of things not to be touched. Still a great place to visit!

Came here on a family trip and camping for the weekend in Marion and passed by The Carson House. Both Chuck and Amy were so welcoming and so informative! The history of the Carson House was fascinating and so rich! If you like history you will LOVE this place. Highly recommend for everyone and all ages, you will come out learning something you didn’t know!
