The place is free of charge. it's run by volunteers. There is a donation box for you to help support them.
If you were to stay and study and read everything, not just read a couple of things and browse our would take quite a while depending on how far a reader you are.

It's inside a small shopping complex and from the outside, it looks really small. But it's not at all small. It's actually a pretty good size.

Excellent source of local History. A free Musuem with changing exhibits. This place is very cute and doesn't feel like a musuem. Each exhibit is thoughtfully curated and gives you a sense of stepping back in time. There is an extensive collection of artifacts. It's neat to then later find the names through out the town and know those names were part of the foundation upon which the city was built! The staff was excellent as well. Great for kids too as it really caters to a grand imagination ❤️

As me and my Slovak girlfriend was travelling across Texas we found out about this small city with Czech history along the I-35 between Austin and Dallas which was a perfect stop for us. We found this museum by coincidence in the city center and was lucky enough to be there on a Friday as it seems like it's only open Thursday to Saturday. It seemed like the museum was taken care of by seniors who had time to guide us through the museum which was very nice! Overall a very nice experience which I can recommend to anyone travelling through I-35 and especially if you have Czech/Slovak heritage.

We truly enjoyed this museum!!!
The volunteers are so friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to share history.
The displays are so interesting, eye-catching, and filled with information.
There is so much to see that you will want to visit more than once.
The only bad thing being, it is only open Thursday thru Saturday so be sure to fit it into your schedule.

Loved our visit to the History of West Museum. There were 2 super nice ladies there that took us aroud and told us about the different things exposed there. There is a whole section about the big explosion that happened a few years ago and other interesting sections with sport memorabilia, a photography collection and many old artifacts used by the first citizens of West. There is a souvenir section at the entrance. Definitely a great place to visit. The admission is free but they accept donations. Bring cash as they dont accept cards.

For a small town (albeit one with an abundance of history and heritage), this is a very good museum. We were very pleasantly surprised at the displays and information given. We'll be back!
