One of the coolest places around, learn about the history of the Florida Keys. They have machines where you can read all about the history of our islands. They have events once a month that you can go to if you are a member. Such a great experience every time we go. Don’t forget to go upstairs and see the theatre and learn about the square grouper days!

This was an incredible museum with such a rich history of the Keys to impart. Apart from certain sections, I was completely unaware of how much history is in the Keys. From the railroad, whose remnants still line the highway, to the Native Americans who resided in this region before, the museum pays homage to everything.

Want to learn about the history of the Keys, this is the place... You can tell a lot of hard work has gone into putting all this information together, and acquiring all the artifacts, that you will learn about all the things you wanted to know about the Keys from the very earliest of days... Thank you to all who work here, the displays are shiny clean, and great to look at...

Got $2 off admission since we were guests at the adjoining Islander Resort. High-quality museum with terrific artifacts and computer access to fuller descriptions of the Key's history. The short films about the Flagler Railroad, and the 1935 hurricane with stories from some of the survivors were great. The subtitles on the films needed much more editing, but other than that, very worth a visit.

This place is a bit overpriced for what it is. it's 15$ per person for what is essentially a decorated living room with 2 fish tanks. Although that might be a bit of an exaggeration, it is not that much of one. If you don't read every last sign there is, it takes 15 seconds to walk the entirety of the first floor. I can not emphasize enough just how tiny it is. There are screen crammed next to each other that give you more information about each topic, but for $15 a ticket, just look it up on Google. Additionally, the second floor was a shabby art gallery and a small theater. The theater was actually not bad if it was not for the fact that they show old documentaries that cover some of the most uninteresting topics. Rather than playing documentaries about the wild life and culture of the keys, it is two old documentaries about a train railroad and the effects of a hurricane that hit. Although both are interesting in their own right, they feel out of place at a keys history museum.

My 9 amd 7 year olds had a great time looking at some of the artifacts and learning some of the history. They may not have retained much, but seeds were planted in their little heads.
