The Lackawanna Historical Society is a true treasure, located in Scranton.
The staff is exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable about most everything that has occured in Lackawanna County since it's inception. The office staff, especially, Executive Director, Mary Ann, Moran, Savakinus all have a genuine love and respect for their community and those who have gone before to create this wonderful place called Scranton.
If you haven't visited LHS, you're missing one of the rare jewels of our city and region.

I love visiting the Historical Society! The staff is extremely knowledgeable about the area, they will help you research your family's lineage and the museum/house tour is a great addition! They also do ghost walks, church tours, and architectural walking tours!

The Lackawanna Historical Society has so much to offer if you want to learn the history of Lackawanna County. The history it has to offer ranges from city directories, geneaology files, photographs, many different books and annviersary booklets. The staff is so helpful and will try to help you in any way they can.
