The Lancaster History Museum and President James Buchanan's Wheatland are the same venue. We didn't peruse the museum collection, but watched the movie and toured the mansion. The excellent movie explains Buchanan's political life, going deep into Buchanan's motives and actions that failed to keep the nation together. The house and its furnishings are almost entirely original to Buchanan's time there and the tour guide gives an excellent summary of Buchanan's personal life.

What a nice day at the Lancaster Museum. Excellent perspective on the last 300 years of history. I learned about the past presidents and some of the people who I’ve heard of, but did not know how they contributed. I’m looking forward to coming back while the library is open.

Loved learning about Pres. Buchanan and especially enjoyed the house tour. Absolutely beautiful and authentic. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and interesting. The gardens were beautiful and the out buildings were interesting.

Visited Wheatland, the Lancaster home of President James Buchanan. The home is as it was for President Buchanan. Any work that was done was completed per time period.

Very insightful. Interesting exhibits. Large collection of historic items. They can help with research if you are interested to learn more about something specific related to Lancaster such as your and/or local family lineage. Definitely worth a visit!

Went here 1pm on Saturday 9/21/24. Young lady at the desk explained everything very well to myself and my fiance so we decided to do a self tour and pay the admission. As she is setting up the admission into the computer she asks me if I am over 65 for a discount, I had to ask her what she said in absolute shock, so she says it louder and my fiance hears it and was so angry because I am absolutely no where near 65 and most can't believe I am 55! I almost walked out but decided to not let it bother me, young people today have zero manners and where not taught today to be respectful, so I let it go. Wish I had told her how rude that was. She should have some retraining on how to make a statement about discounts over 65 but not actually have to ask someone if they are.

I didn't tour the museum because of my tight schedule, but its lobby and surroundings are beautiful. Parking was easy. I will tour the museum on my next visit.
