Literally the worst health care I’ve ever received. The first time I tried them I waited I the lobby for an hour and forty minutes with no information about why no one was coming. Received a call later that they had some emergency. I guess the receptionist was also helping with the emergency? Most recently I went in for suicidal depression. They repeatedly referred to it as “anxiety” even after I clarified. They gave me Wellbutrin and I had a follow up set for a week. When I went back (on time and hopefully) they told me the person I was supposed to see (Misty) was unavailable. They booked me with Carolyne (I may be spelling that wrong). She proceeded to ask me for all the information I had already given continuing to get every detail wrong. When I attempted to express a lack of faith in their organization (I said “obviously yall don’t have your shit together) she proceeded to tel me “I am under no obligation to see you” and try to gaslight me into thinking this was all business as usual.

Granted that am highly irritable and suffering greatly at the moment but the standard of care here is abysmal. If there was a 0 star rating they would have earned it.

Was seen today 9/29/2022 for some health reasons, called the lady at the front desk to schedule an appointment, was on hold for at least ten minutes, she answers again and I tell her I'm trying to schedule an appointment and also needed to discuss other medical issues, hence the reason I scheduled an appointment in the first place. Got the appointment and arrived a little late because I have an infant that was tagging along with me and not to mention the amount of traffic throughout the county now, my appointment was a little set back on time which was understandable. I sat for an hour and a half just for the doctor to come in and talk to me maybe 5 minutes and I stated I had other medical concerns to discuss, doctor told me I would have to make another appointment! Why. That's why people make appointments, to discuss their health. Very rushed, unprofessional, rude, not compassionate at all! I hadn't been seen at this practice in years after the last issues I had. Nothing has changed at all with this practice. It doesn't matter how many doctors you go through. If you continue to hire unprofessional doctors who lack care, compassion and competence then this practice will continue losing patients. I can't believe they actually have 4 stars. Very disappointed. The ladies at the desk and taking vitals were awesome. The lack of care however, I won't be coming back.

Mashburn Medical Center is clean, friendly and busy. The service I receive is excellent. My doctor is dedicated to making and keeping me well. Unfortunately, it takes some time to be seen. Too many patients, not enough staff, but once the doctor comes in the room he is not interrupted and talks directly to you and not a computer.

Update: 4/27/21 I had the opportunity for a video appointment with Dr Curry Jones. He fit me in same day, ( Dr Shelton's day off)He mentioned he is good friends with Dr.Shelton. I can see this, he has the same empathetic old fashioned patient ethic. Kind caring and interested in making sure I feel better.

I am so impressed with this practice, from the front desk to the pharmacy and allied team. Thank you Hot Springs!

Dr. Shelton took the time and interest to figure out what has been causing my chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia after many years and many specialists.
I now have my life back and I cannot say enough wonderful things about this amazing internist.

I would also like to thank the pharmacy personnel for going above and beyond while I was traveling.

To whom it may concern
My name is Zona Swann. I had a physical at Mars Hill with Dr Dana Jones on December 21. I also had a mammogram scheduled at Asheville on December 23. Dr Jones wanted a follow up visit to discuss my results. Mars Hill where I always go had no openings so I was ask if I would go to Mashburn. My appointment was January 5at 3:40. I received a text to be there at 3:25 so I arrived at 3:15. I checked in and was told I had a $60 copay so I put it on my card. Mars Hill never ask for a copay they usually bill me. At 4:50 I was still sitting in the waiting room. No one informed me that my Dr was running late. I sat in the waiting room at a location out of my way for over 1 1/2 hours. I went to the receptionist and informed her I was leaving and I wanted my copay put back on my card because I never left the waiting room. I also told her if Dr. Jones wanted to discuss my results that I had already saw on My Chart she could call me. I’m not wasting my time sitting in a waiting room for 1 1/2 hours with no explanation. My time is just as important as everyone else’s. I’m very upset with the service at Mashburn on my first and last visit there.

Have been a patient at Hot Springs Health for more than 20 years but never prouder of this resource in our community than during the pandemic. The staff and providers have been tireless in their work to keep people safe and healthy during a very trying period. Have had only thoroughly professional and efficient experiences there. Good folks doing great work. So grateful to have them in Madison County, NC when they could go to a for-profit practice and make a lot more money.
