Just want people to know what to expect or not to expect from the process of application for the health care from this clinic. On March 6 my wife and I had eligibility interview with this clinic, which was very thorough. We provided all the requested financial and personal information and answered all the questions. They told us that the process may take few weeks because of long waiting time of getting medical records. But they will keep us informed about the progress of our application, and if there will be 'yes' or 'no' at the end of this process. We helped them to get our medical records in 2 days, and expected for their decision to come soon. That's where the good story ends. We've waited a month, nobody called. We called them ourselves, and they responded that our application is still on executive desk, and they are still looking at our financials, and that in one or two weeks we'll get an answer. After one more month we still didn't receive any information about the status of application. We understood that this is not going anywhere, and after almost two months from the date of our interview we decided to cancel our application. We lost two months waiting for this clinic's response, instead of going to some other place for medical help. Our health is deteriorating, and this neglecting attitude from bureaucrats who runs this office is damaging both people who in needs, and those nobel ideas of doctors who are willing to provide a free medical help. When we went to the office to get back our application and our medical records, they even had hard time to find our medical records. Now we doubt if someone even looked at them. The attitude from receptionist and the process of ending this application is another story. It's just an advice for those who in needs and looks for medical support, to go and apply in another clinic.

This is a really good clinic, i applied and get approved and they referred me to Dr's for endometriosis, I even got surgery through the clinic paying minimum. The process for the application takes long than a month, personally it took more than 5 months but it was worth the waiting.

I called in on today 4/20/2018 to check on the status of my daughters application an give an update as well an spoken to Heleka the coordinator she was very rude! i didn't appreciate that want so every i do want this to be addressed to the Vice President on the Board an the Office Manager an others that sponsor this Clinic an I will be addressing this to the Better Business Bureau on how we was treated as well. Poor service toward minorities.

While the aim of the program is to be commended - to provide medical care and assistance to person without insurance - THE PROCESS and WAIT to be given a "yay or nay" leaves a great deal to be desired. If someone is sick and in need, the very last thing they need is to have to collect, print, and deliver ALL their very personal information to someone, ONLY TO BE TOLD your wait to be registered or declined is 2 to 3 weeks. WHAT IF IN THE INTERIM OF WAITING the individual worsens and/or dies And all due to having to wait for a board to determine if they are POOR ENOUGH.

What is someone to do in that in between time? Urgent Care costs too much, which leaves one with only the ER to attend to what may be very minor, but will cost FAR more than necessary. Again, I applaud the efforts and aim by Volunteers and Board Members alike, but the whole process, not only here but elsewhere, needs to be redone. Our healthcare system leaves a LOT to be desired, and it most certainly is not the fault of hands or feet that choose to care and give an actual damn about others. They just happen to get caught up in the bureaucracy of it all, just like the people who desperately need care.

Matthews Free Medical Clinic. They're caring, professional... and their services are Free. During your appointments they will take time to make sure you understand anything they're reviewing with you and answer any ?'s you may have. I've never felt as though I were being rushed.
