I was set up in 8 South to recover after my surgery. Julia, my AM nurse, was wonderful. She was super nice and worked very hard to ensure I was comfortable. The whole staff was very friendly and efficient. The girls that did my blood work were amazing. I hate needles, but they made it super easy and painless for me. I really appreciate all their hard work. If I ever have to go back for another major surgery, I hope I'm set up with the same great staff on 8 South.

Had a fairly complicated shoulder surgery at the McLaren Flint surgery and endoscopy center. All of the staff were exceptional, the three hour procedure went very well. I’ve had several other tests procedures at this center, and they always runs smoothly.

I don’t even want to give this facility a 1 star. I wish I could give them NONE. This ER was absolutely disgusting… treating me as a patient who was in SEVERE screaming agony… I waited in the waiting room SCREAM crying in pain for over 4 hours before I could be seen… what happens next? A security “officer” / “police officer” with a K-9 dog walks up to me and tells me “I need to stop screaming in pain and that this is uncalled for”
I say: excuse me? What would you do if you were in severe pain sitting here and no one was helping you.

I was “admitted” to a hallway bed about 4/5 hours later, because they were over booked with patients…. I stayed an excruciating 24 hours there… NOT ONCE was I asked if I was hungry… they didn’t feed me. A few of the nurses that were assigned to me, Did NOT care about me. I had to yell for help randomly… asking anyone in the hallway if they could help me: they would always say “I’ll go get your nurse, or I’ll check on that for you” and never came back to me.

I watched 2 patients who had little rooms while I was in the hallway be neglected and uncared for as well… I heard a nurse ask another nurse: “why aren’t you in his room, he was having a Bradycardia…” (they didn’t care) the other patient was crying and moaning and no one seemed to care and check on her frequently either… it truly broke my heart seeing them being neglected, as was I, (a hallway bed patient)

After I was discharged, I couldn’t recieve my prescription at a location that had it out of stock. I called another location and they were in stock… I called the ER well over 20 times, seeking help and trying to figure out how I could get these meds to help ease the pain. I was hung up on multiple times (which is automatically recorded) I was laughed at by staff on the phone saying “you can deal with this” and hung up on me AGAIN.
I was never transferred to the charge nurse to voice my concern about what was going on because I kept getting hung up on…

As a patient who has been in serious pain now for over 48 hours….. a patient who was neglected and uncared for. I am truly disgusted. Your staff shouldn’t be in health care. I wish I never went there but that’s how desperate I was to seek answers and help. (AND GOT NONE)
I will continue to advocate for patients who were and ARE treated poorly at this location. McLaren in Flint- SHOULD and needs to be shut down. Absolutely disgusting.

The nurses on the Neuro ICU floor deserve a raise and deserve all the recognition in the world. In specific, I am eternally grateful for Trisha, Bailey and Jason. They have shown my ill mother so much kindness, care, respect and love. They are extremely hard working, intelligent, show empathy and exhibit all the traits that a great nurse should. I am so grateful to have gotten to meet these three and have them here to talk to and bring a smile to my face in my darkest days. I trust them with my life and my mom’s life and I couldn’t be more thankful. Thank you three so so so much! ❤️

The ONLY good thing about this place are the nurses. Doctors don't communicate. My neighbor has gone 3 days without food. I'm going to be going on 3 days myself. If you need care from doctor, please, for the love of God, DON'T COME HERE.

Only go here if you literally plan to die. McLaren = a death sentence. If they transfer you here, it’s because they already know whats going to happen and think you are poor and won’t pay your bill and are beneath deserving basic human dignity and respect. Even roaming the halls will send chills down your spine. And the moment we were transferred here we knew how it would all go down. They have a 2 year graduate as the charge nurse in the CCU.

Out of all surrounding hospitals in the Flint area it is by far the trashiest, most deserted, and terribly staffed of them all. Only the 2 physicians I met with, and a single nurse, did I truly feel were knowledgeable, compassionate about their job, and not in work-place burnout.

We knew the loss we experienced would happen, but honestly what will always cause me the most trauma and horror is all that had to watch my family member go through here in their final moments. It truly haunts and sickens me and it’s the thing I cry about the most during grieving.

My family member was treated like a science project. They thought no one cared and no one was watching, but I loved them deeply and I took note. How could I not? I’m forever mentally traumatized and terrified to ever trust a hospital myself, let alone if I am unable to advocate.

I simply wanted to be properly informed, and in a calm and collected manor, I asked my questions to the nurse, I sure remember her whole name and face by heart because of the way she treated me (truly the most awful one of the medical staff that I had encountered, she really shouldn’t be in the medical field to be honest…no bedside manor whatsoever).

The way this nurse rolled her eyes and made face at me, and squared up her chest as if she was about to call security on me for asking questions, when she specifically told me to do so, made me feel really uneasy. I told this incident to two other members of our party and without even describing her, one mentioned her name, and the other her shirt, because she was that awful that they both already knew exactly who I meant when I told my story.

My family member was only cared for by training medical students, so she was used as a science study tool without family permission. We were never asked nor did we ever consent to student work in her final stages. She wasn’t a tool to learn how to incorrectly jam an IV into. I saw her the first day and she was peaceful but still beautiful. We HAD to leave her alone for short hours and she needed to be turned. When I came back her face had rug burns on it because they weren’t even turning her with care since they knew she was going to be gone and because they knew we weren’t currently there watching and they wanted it to end sooner by doing so also so as not to keep paying the medical and electrical bills on her life support.

I mentioned being upset of the rug burns and they said next time they will use a pillow which I don’t understand why they weren’t to begin with. I could get way more graphic and I could write a novel about the experience really, but overall I just really wanted to save people from ever having to go through such a traumatic experience as I did, because now I am mentally scared for life and my family member had to go through so much pain in the end due to her horrible care here. I could cry for the rest of my life over it.

Trust me, just don’t go here. If you value your life and the respect and dignity of your loved one.

And by the way, every single commodity was empty and broken down, and they have Starbucks downstairs so they also love to take advantage of someone in a dire situation. The pop machine never got fixed and it passed the date. The waiting room had no vent or air conditioning at all and was at least 80 degrees with signs posted that you are not allowed to prop the door and so …. (TBC…)

This is the worst hospital. The nurses are something else, very rude, they don't care. My friend was brought her by EMTs she has cancer, the set her out in the waiting room with sick nasty people! No mask, no socks on nothing to keep her warm.
The waiting room needs to be clean nursing staff needs to take a class or two on how to treat and talk to people! They just push pts out and don't say one thing to them just push and lock the wheelchair.
Don't let your love ones come here better off to take them a vet.
