I was ambling, following light and shadow on an Autumn day. I walked by, and then into, the Museum.

Serendipity worked again…for me!

A beautiful little space, filled with history, art, helpful and passionate people (thanks Marco).

Three hours later, after a tour of the museum, a community garden and a former tenement building, I left with a better understanding of a unique part of New York history.

For those folks (residents and visitors) interested in some of things that make NYC tick, I would highly recommend visiting this fascinating museum (I got to participate in the walking tour also) for a deeper understanding

The diverse set of unique and talented, yet rugged individualists, that make up these unique NYC stories is a thing of beauty. To me. TY (MoRUS)!

We did the tour with Bill who was extremely knowledgeable and helped us learn about activism on the Lower East Side throughout the decades. It was enlightening and empowering to hear about the reclaiming of vacant lots and abandoned tenements and hear how these places became gardens and homes. Standing in one of these gardens, an oasis from the city, was inspiring and peaceful. The museum itself is a short visit, I suggest if you plan to step into the museum, take the tour to make it worth while.

We really loved this hidden gem. What a fascinating place! The owner was an amazing person to talk to, full of fantastic stories and bits of city history you never knew you never knew. Thanks to this museum, we feel like we know the city more intimately, and we were both inspired to bring some community spirit home with us. We also got to know about the community gardens in the area and spent the rest of the day exploring them, which was lovely.

Thanks so much!

I can’t say enough good things about this museum.

I knew it would be the highlight out my first nyc trip before I was even here. But the museum itself and Bill’s tour still exceeded my expectations. I learnt a lot of the charming L.E.S neighbourhood, grassroots movement, community gardens and recycling etc. loads of interesting stories and facts. The tours happens every weekend at 3pm.

I wish there are history/places like this in where I live. When I come back to NYC I will continue to support the museum.

Really cool spot operated by a really friendly and knowledgeable staff. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants a very detailed, and educational look at this part of the city's history. It's really amazing to learn what people have been able to accomplish, especially when you take into consideration the struggles that they had to overcome in order to do so. All of which you'll be able to learn more about by visiting this museum, and for those of you who are already familiar with the history of the location, and the incredible music that came from it, you'll be glad that you visited. It's a real privilege to have this place open to the community.

We came for a guided walking tour and I truly enjoyed the event. The tour guide is patient and understanding and very knowledgeable about the entire area. Even thought I've lived in nyc for years I learned a lot more about the LES. I highly recommend for New Yorkers and tourists.

介紹了紐約下東區非法佔屋的歷史,美化暴力行為。過於進步主義了。
