There is definitely a lack of compassion and empathy for mothers, especially first time moms who obviously have never done this before. I went in for an elective induction at 39 weeks and although I was made familiar with the general process of induction by my doctor, being there was definitely more frightening and I needed help understanding the steps I was going through. I believe your experience is determined 100% by the nursing staff you have. The first night was great, the nurse was kind and helpful; however, by the second night (which was the hardest for me) the nurse was blissfully unaware that I was a human in excruciating pain. I had two failed epidurals at this point and when squeezing into my husbands hand during contraction trying to work through it she quite literally pushed him away to adjust a monitor that surely could have waiting the 20 seconds longer. I asked her to wait and she gave me attitude about it and literally flipped down on the couch in the most dramatic way possible. I adjusted the monitor myself to find the baby’s heart rate and asked for a new nurse at that point (I originally had a mobile monitor on that was working beautiful and as soon as she came on she ripped it off and put the standard one on that moved easily and had difficulty maintaining baby’s heart rate during my painful contractions that I moved with).
Over in postpartum they couldn’t care less that this is your first baby nor the fact that you are in pain. They provide minimal supplies and are diffuse to get additional supplies from. Constantly delay your pain medication where your “level 2” is a “level 7” by the time they administer it cause you didn’t seem like you needed the whole dose. Not to mention they are so loud giggling and joking in their station right outside your door all night, they want you to wake baby up every 2 hours to feed but barge in every four to wake baby up and essentially causes cluster feeding.
Overall I ended up with some nurses that needed a little help remember empathy. Really made my 45 hr delivery and stay in postpartum even more difficult.

I had my baby the past 09/29/2024. I will give them 5+ starts! Awesome staffs and doctors! My delivery was smooth and not stressful at all! Love this hospital for labor and delivery

I really felt well taken care of with questions concerns, and even care through everything. with birth to care for self and baby who is well taken care of in nicu nursery. The staff and everyone was so helpful and sweet and helpful with anything needed or helping me to learn along the way for my baby. I am so appreciative of all who I encountered in helping me and even the Dr who helped me deliver and a good time for being goofball while in some pain

Very disappointed. After my daughters C-Section they just gave her a room and disappeared. No explanation on the way they work there. Found out on our own that if a family member is not with the patient they are on their own to take care of themselves. They do not care if you eat...didn't even get a menu till day 2. Ordered dinner on day two and never got the food. No one has the same answer to a question. Asked for ibuprofen for a headache it never comes. Didn't care to make sure the patient has compression socks on after surgery. Really I can go on but this is enough.....so frustrated! On the positive side...we had 2 kind & good nurses within the 3 days. Is it the Hospital or is it the staff? I believe it's a little bit of both. I hope they get it together soon and care for their patients like they should. Also too many assistant's to assistant's. Very young girls that I'm sorry... do nothing and know nothing.

All in my experience was great. Dr beall and nurse Jordan were amazing. Tho I had a nurse named Corey who was very judgemental about the medication I was prescribed that I have been on for almost 4 years now. Not only did I come on yhe hospital with my prescription this nurse Corey lied to me and asked if she could see my prescription to show it to the pharmacy and she never returned with it. When I asked her about 2 hours later what was going on she said that the hospital is going to prescribe me the medication and they are going to keep mine locked up until I leave. After I was discharged the nurse took it upon herself to contact dcfs . Great hospital with a bad apple in the bunch. Hopefully they get rid of her

I am leaving my review for Sherry (Cheryl) in the nursery. She is the kind’ve nurse you hope for to take care of your baby. She is one you can leave the hospital, trusting your baby is in top notch excellent care. She calls herself aunty Sherry and she truly is just that to all of those precious babies! I cannot even write how exceptional she is. I hope she gets recognition for loving what she does, because it’s nurses like her that make a difference. I will call Monday to let the manager know as well! She deserves it!

I would like to say, regarding my labor and delivery, the process was beautiful and i enjoyed all of my nurses, especially Ana who took her time to explain and answer all of my questions as a nervous first time mom who was being induced due to preeclampsia.
This is for the postpartum nurses. Specifically an older woman by the name of Patty, maybe Peggy. She was absolutely vile to me when I was already in a vulnerable state as a ftm, who was alone in recovery. She made me feel like I was dumb for asking questions. She scolded me for not knowing when and how often to feed my newborn. She also rarely checked in on me, and when she did she never asked about my pain management or anything of the sort. She actually lied during a shift change and told the daytime nurse she had asked me about my pain but I was okay. When i heard her say this i spoke up because i WAS in pain. I said, “actually can I please have some motrin?” She audibly sighed and said “ you were literally just asked 30 minutes ago “. And so what if i was? But that was not the case as she had not checked in on me at that point for 4 hours, during that time she changed my babys diaper without my asking my consent which I found very strange. She questioned about my
Home life, and if im going to have any help. Im assuming because I am a younger mom and was alone during recovery majority of the time. Over all a very unpleasant woman. Postpartum recovery is not a pleasant experience. You are sore, sleep deprived, overwhelmed with emotions, and learning something completely new. I understand its just another day at work for this nurse, but for us mothers, this is supposed to be a beautiful and blissful time. This nurse really robbed me of that. I hope she can find some compassion within herself.
