Great experience, great staff and doctors. Dr. Ernest Coker is my primary, and he is above and beyond. Dr Sonya Medina as well. Took me a long time to get back on track and take care of myself and they have been helping in every possible way. 👍🏻

I really wish I could give this facility zero stars. Staff here are not rude however they do not offer the best treatment possible for their patients. Every time I visit this facility I feel as though I’m an inconvenience to them. I have received VA health treatment For over 10 years and this is definitely one of the worst locations. Do better.

Everyone is always nice and helpful, Dr Streck is a wonderful Dr , my husband David has been going to him for years, he listens to you and is always ready to help in anyway he can. The clinic would be at a loss without him. Thank you so very much, Dr. Steck for all your help with my husband David. Wilene Ingram

The absolute worst VA I’ve been to. At my first appointment, I was sitting in the waiting room when a nurse came out and called an elderly man in a wheelchair back. The nurse said he had to find a way to push his own wheelchair to come back to the exam room. She stated that she was not allowed to help him due to Covid policy. After a few minutes, another elderly veteran who could hardly walk stood up and said hell, I’ll just do it. And he pushed the wheelchair veteran back to his appointment. Then that nurse could be heard yelling, presumably at a coworker from the waiting room. if that wasn’t bad enough, this VA never returns calls or answers messages. I have called several times to order new equipment for my CPAP machine, and months have gone by with no action being taken on their part, even after confirming with them that the parts would be ordered. Additionally, in order to speak to someone, you have to spend at least an hour on hold before anyone picks up the phone. If you’re lucky enough that someone will pick up the phone, it’s very likely they will just tell you that it’s someone else’s problem and you have to call a different phone number and wait on hold again. Truly the worst experience I’ve had at the VA. Lastly, when I message my PCM for help with a referral, I’m told to call community care instead. Then when I call community care, they tell me I need to talk to my PCM. it’s a constant cycle of being redirected to someone else and no one wants to actually do their job. The quality of care is nonexistent.
The only redeeming quality was the one nurse I’ve seen prior to my doctor was very kind and attentive. Other than that, the whole facility is terrible.

I've been to a lot of VA clinics and this by far is the best one! Staff is top tier, facility is top tier, plenty of parking. There was no hurry up and wait. I had an appointment for 0800 got there at 0750 was seen at 0806 right after checking in.

They do walk ins as well I'm not sure how that process is. the doctor had already read over the appointment notes so there was no re answering questions and they were all funny! oh and theres a woman who's office is called "home" she's a pcms(or one of those acronyms but her office has the entire builiding smelling good!

but yea just thought id take the time to share! ill definitely always come to this one now

Appointment wait times are close to a year for primary care doctors.

Half the doctors speak terrible english, and if you want a different doctor too bad.

The wait time to be seen by a nurse is not too bad, however the doctor will need to set an appointment up with you after seeing the nurse, and like I said that will be around a year later.

Go to a civilian doctor or hospital if you have a real problem you need to be cared for fast, because these places are here to just make money from gov paychecks. No actual care has ever been given at these locations.

Most employees showed up 20-30 minutes late. Stood around talking. Didn’t know if the lab machine was working or not. I was waiting for an hour being 2nd in line for lab work. I was supposed to be going back to work asap but wasted hours sitting here at the Oakwood VA clinic. Get it together. Veterans deserve for the VA employees to be on time at a minimum.

I have been here once to see a specialist for plantar fascitis. I really thought all the staff was very nice and professional. I felt a warm welcome and a sense of belonging. I felt that I was cared for which was a very different atmosphere from other VA clinics. I did not have to wait for my appointment I arrived 15 minutes early and was cheerfully welcomed the minute I arrived. I would give this VA 50 stars if I could. The friendliness of the staff made me even want to get a job here. I would volunteer to help here with any services the VA needs. I sure wish all the veterans well here
