A Fascinating Glimpse into History

The Oswald Rooming House Museum offers an haunting and intimate look into the life of Lee Harvey Oswald in the days leading up to the JFK assassination. The house is preserved almost exactly as it was in 1963, giving visitors an authentic feel of the era. Walking through the rooms, especially Oswald's small, sparsely furnished space, adds a personal and eerie dimension to the story. The guided tour was insightful, with knowledgeable hosts who provided detailed context about Oswald’s time there. This museum offers an up-close connection to a crucial piece of history that you won’t find anywhere else. It’s a small but powerful visit for history buffs and anyone interested in the events surrounding the assassination.

We toured as part of a JFK guided tour. As someone that was alive at the time of JFK’s assassination, the museum is a step back in time. The actual furniture in Oswald’s tiny closet sized room looks untouched since 1963. The memorabilia is plentiful and compelling. So glad we had the opportunity to visit.

What a great experience for anyone who still wonders abou tthe JFK assassination. Ms. Patricia Hall waas an 11-year old girl when her grandmother rented a tiny room to Lee Oswald. She has mamy surprising memories to share. Ms. Hall is gracious, generous with her time, very knowledgeable and a delightful lady to spend some time with. Highly recommended.

We visited here as part of a larger tour of JFK assassination sites. This was a surprising highlight! The space had been maintained as it would have been when LHO stayed here at the time. There’s a shadowbox full of items, the cabinet that housed the jacket that he fetched before heading to the Texas Theater, and a phone where he talked to his wife each day. We really enjoyed the stop and recommend it highly!

I booked a JFK tour listed on Viator which included access to the Oswald Rooming House. There is a number listed out front to request a tour (and a Facebook page) but it may be easier to join an organized tour group.

This place is just as Oswald left it in 1963. Nothing has changed. Patricia Hall, the granddaughter of one of the original property owners now manages it and speaks to tour groups. It is fascinating to hear a first hand account of LHO. She met him as a girl and has vivid memories of his life in Oak Cliff.

I am not sure whether this property has been protected so definitely show some support and take a tour if you're interested in JFK history. The surrounding neighborhood is quickly being developed so act fast!

We stopped here while on a guided JFK Tour. It was amazing. Literally like stepping back in history as the house is in its original state from. The 60's. You can see Oswald's bedroom and his jacket that he was arrested in. I would definitely recommend you visit!

This was like entering a time capsule back to 1963. I felt steeped in history. Miss Pat was so kind and shared her memories of interactions with Lee Oswald which were fascinating. This is a MUST on any trip to Dallas! Thank you, Miss Pat for taking care of such a piece of our history.
