I had an emergency room visit July 15, 2025, went in with excruciating back pain level nine and 10. Had to goto emergency room as im out of town here… had to go in via. Ambulance…the ambulance crew was AMAZING! btw! Arrived to hospital with an IV …..at hospital received zero empathy, nurses were joking and I was happy to see that upon arrival…..that’s where it all stopped going well…..no hydration no doctor zero empathy from nurses was released with no idea of why I was in the state that I was in. Did not see my X-rays or discussed my results(a PA said nothing was wrong). I had a bad fall 9 mos prior I explained maybe 10 times to 10 different people. Again in Level 9-10 pain. Could barely walk out of hotel hospital again zero empathy from at least 10 nurses standing around me. I have excellent health insurance BCBS by the way so uninsurable is not an issue with me apparently this hospital is known for providing healthcare to uninsured people. Maybe they get better service?I will never go back there again for medical attention and am trying to find healthcare in the area as I’m still stuck in a bed at home. . Only one nurse there went above and beyond for me. I think her name was either Jen or Jenna or Jesse. She told me Her story about her getting knee replacements, and she took extra time to actually help me and I plan on going in and thanking her (I think I’ll just have something nice delivered). She was the only shining star I experienced in a sea problems. I don’t post bad reviews but this is a different situation as I hope it educates people and patients appropriately… I have a very good comparison as I was in a similar situation five years ago at this same hospital when it was operating as JC Blair and the service was phenomenal and I’ve actually used it in many conversations as an example of local town healthcare excellence. This is no longer the case as of my experience on 7/15/25

My rating reflects a most unprofessional and misleading experience with billing and the Penn Highlands Huntingdon website. I, as an uninsured adult, accessed the good faith estimate tool on the website as part of my research to find an economical choice in the area for my needed testing. I also spoke to the billing office prior to scheduling to make certain that the good faith estimate was correct. I was reassured that it was. I then, after my testing, received a bill for twice the cost of the good faith estimate. When reaching out to the billing office, I was flatly told there was nothing that could be done. I then contacted a patient advocate and was subsequently called by a the Huntingdon billing representative who dismissed my concerns, told me the "good faith tool" on their website had nothing to do with the facility, and disregarded my concern about the added cost when choosing a payment plan.
If the good faith tool on the website is not part of the facility, it should not be accessible. Since, it is there and available for use, it should be honored. There was no honoring patient concerns in this circumstance, unfortunately. I will not choose this facility in the future.
The two-star, in place of one-star, rating is given because the clinical staff I encountered were excellent, professional and caring.

*inpatient mental health*. This place needs a serious evaluation itself. My loved one went there with a mental health crisis and upon arrival nothing was even done. He was up for 3 days straight with no intervention or concerns from the professionals. They did nothing with the medication besides upped the dosage a little bit and still discharged him while he was experiencing multiple intense panic attacks and delusions hours before he was set to be released. Maybe it's because all you guys have them do for free time is "walk laps". This is so sickening and even the people who are currently helping him today are not happy with this hospitals treatment. Therapists there acted like his problems were stupid and that it was supposed to be easy for him to shut out the bad thoughts without any help or plans set in place. I'm sorry, but you shouldn't have to go to another inpaitient less than a week after you get released. They didn't even set him up with an appointment for outpatient. He had to be responsible for it himself with the tiny bit of help from their referral. Just so disappointing and I hope that anyone who has had a bad experience speaks up. This place will infact like the one review above, make your MH crisis worse!

I'm surprised by all the negative reviews. I had surgery in July. Dr Brower was good. He explained everything and the surgery went well. Now the nurses that work in outpatient are phenomenal. Went out of their way to make me comfortable and make sure I had what I needed. A week later I received a "get well" card in the mail that all the nurses had signed. Overall I had a very positive experience and would definitely go back. Thanks to Dr Brower, and all the kind nurses at outpatient.

This hospital is awful. I have gone twice in the last year to the emergency room and the way I was treated as a patient was unbelievable. Nurses were short tempered and could not find my veins. They moved a needle around in my arm multiple times to find a vein and told me to my face that “you have some crummy veins”. My arm after this encounter was badly bruised for 3 weeks. This is unacceptable and they had previous misdiagnosed me with not having a concussion after falling twice and hitting my head.

This is an update on Dr. Harry Disnore who has left Penn Highlands and moved on after 2 years there to PaFootcare.com. Beware this Doctor is still out there possibly screwing up more patients lives. If you know whats best look for another orthopedic surgeon and save yourself future pain or surgery. If you know what's good for you run don't walk and find another orthopedic surgeon. One that listens and admits when they make a mistake. Check out his reviews before you take that chance ask around. It's a sad day that he keeps running ads to get new patients. I had additional surgery due to his negligence.

My young niece presented for dog bites to face. Nursing staff was phenomenal, kind, caring and attentive. Doctor did sub-par suturing of her FACE. Sewed everything up tight leaving no space for drainage to occur. Her little face blew up with fluid. Am thankful they were there and could stop the bleeding but what a horrible a job done by the physician.

I went through all the tests they asked of me, The anesthology dept only sent my primary care Dr the results of my blood and urine test, my primary care Dr. those she cleared me for surgery, the orthopedic surgeon cleared me and set the date for my shoulder surgery then two weeks later My surgery was cancelled because the results of the E.K.G. were never shared with both Dr"s. so now I remain in pain because of their failure to communicate.
