I can’t say enough good things about Sanatoga Center! From the moment we arrived, the staff was attentive, compassionate, and professional. The physical and occupational therapy team worked hard to create a personalized plan, and we saw a real improvement every week.

The facility itself is cleaned and well maintained. The communication with the family was excellent. As a family, we always felt informed and involved in the care process.

Mom is home now and we are so grateful for all the care received.

My grandma needed wound care and therapy after a long stay at Pottstown Hospital. The staff are super friendly and helpful. You can tell that they actually care about their patients which put me at ease. It was amazing seeing how grandma progressed in therapy and how her wounds healed. Great job Sanatoga team!

My mother is no longer in this facility as of recently, but please, spare your loved ones. If you care about them, do not send them to this facility.

My mother has type 2 diabetes and had several strokes, along with a seizure a few weeks ago, which impaired her ability to speak clearly. She also lost mobility and functionality on the right side of her body. The stroke caused her to need to use the bathroom more frequently.

We thought the Sanatoga Center would be the best place to send her for rehab, as it was one of the closest options to home. However, that quickly changed after her first day there.

Because my mother was a fall-risk patient, she was confined to her bed 99% of the time and had to wear an adult diaper. As mentioned above, the stroke caused her to use the bathroom more frequently. There were times she pressed the red call button for assistance so she could be changed, and she waited over an hour and a half before a member of the staff showed up to clean her.

On the first day, my mother had to be changed twice within a 5 minute period. The staff member who came in said they had just changed her, and that they normally check and change their patients every two hours. I found this to be appalling. It should be done as needed. No one would want to sit in their own urine, let alone feces, for that long. Also, women can develop a UTI if there’s fecal contamination, and my mother had just gotten rid of a UTI while she was at the hospital before being transferred to this center.

There is a sign posted in the hallway stating that if a staff member is seen wearing headphones or using their phone for personal use while on the nursing unit, disciplinary action would be taken. However, I saw a LARGE majority of the staff members texting on their phones and wearing headphones while walking past my mom’s room all while her call light was on. No disciplinary action was ever taken.

Eventually, my mother became so upset and uncomfortable sitting in her own urine or bowel movement that she would cry and try to remove her diaper by herself.

Upon being discharged from the hospital, the hospital staff informed the rehab center that my mom takes her pills crushed in applesauce. Yet, some of the nurses gave her the pills whole in pudding, and she had to chew them. The hospital also informed the center that my mom was a full feed because she is right-handed (and her right side was impaired), but the staff claimed it wasn’t noted in the paperwork. As a result, they would simply bring her food and walk away. My mother struggled to feed herself with her left hand, often spilling food all over herself and no one wiped or cleaned her afterward.

On the first day, we signed a waiver to have side rails put on the bed to prevent my mom from rolling off and falling. The rails were delivered to the room two days later, left on the floor for another two days, and only installed after we brought it up to a staff member. They claimed it was the maintenance guy’s job. When he eventually installed them, he told us he thought the staff would have done it.

Several times, I found used insulin needles left lying around the room, used gloves thrown on the floor, and wet washcloths (used to wipe patients during changes) left in clear plastic bags on the bathroom floor. The hallways always had a very unpleasant odor.

When we found a different rehab center and began the transfer process, Sanatoga made it extremely difficult. Communication with both the new center and our family was inconsistent and unclear. They would either leave out information, fail to inform us or the new center altogether, or tell each party completely different stories.

They scheduled transportation to transfer my mom but failed to inform us that there was a $254 fee until the last minute which forced them to cancel the transfer. Thankfully, the new rehab center was kind enough to pay for and send their own transport team to pick her up.

My grandmother was just able to come back home after her stay at Sanatoga Center. All the staff members were so kind, attentive, and caring. Thank you so much for getting my grandmother back to her baseline.

My father went to Sanatoga for rehab after being at Phoenixville hospital for oxygen treatments for COPD 3 days. They thought it would be good for him to get PT treatments before going back home. The stay was to be 2 weeks or less. When he went in there he had no sores. They even took pictures. He complained that they would not let him go to the bathroom alone but then took over an hour to get to him after he pushed the help button. So obviously he soiled himself many times while there. I changed him a few times. He got CDIF (which he has never had) They treated him for that and put him in a room with someone who had COVID. Surprise, he got COVID too (he never had that either even when he was around it a couple years ago). His oxygen continued to plummet. I have to say all the nurses were excellent and would catch the oxygen and do things that were not their jobs to do. They were all very nice, knowledgeable and caring. They let us know immediately when there were issues. Overall they are horribly understaffed. The food was terrible and of low quality. The worst things were that the day we pulled him out of there he had fallen trying to go to the bathroom and laid there close to an hour with his roommate trying to get help. He came home with 4 sores that had been bleeding on his leg and his bottom was very sore and inflamed. (That is from sitting in a wet diaper). Seeing this when I changed him the first time, I was livid! His stay ended up being over 5 weeks and came out worse than he went in. He had to stay in longer with the setbacks from CDIF & covid. Then had to pay for those extra days, over 3k. I know that this obviously was not on purpose as all the staff were doing as much as they could do with the best attitudes. They are just understaffed. I would have given this less stars if it wasn't for them doing their best. My heart goes out to those heroes.

My aunt was in this facility and it started off fine but then quickly turned into the worst experience! They are not there to help. They are there to move patients in and out and collect a pay day!
I went to visit and my aunt was sitting in the bathroom half naked and when I asked her what she was doing she said "they put me in here and I don't know what i am supposed to be doing". When I asked the nurse she said that my aunt asked to wash up so she put her in the bathroom. The next day I inquired about her care and they said she is mostly self sufficient. When we (the family) asked about long term care they said because she can answer for herself they are sending her home. There is no one at home to care for her!! She can't even dress herself. This place is just terrible.
Now she is home and we have to try to navigate the system to get her help! The social services department in that place is absolutely useless! No one will even pay attention to what is really going on in that place! Do not put a loved one there! The PT signed her off as capable to do everything including cook and clean. She can't even put a pair of pants on!!!! How on earth can she live in a 2 story house and take care of herself!

My ex neighbor shares a rm. with another man . Ask the ladies that were hanging out at the desk for a cup of water for ea.. NOBODY came. I saw a man named Phil that does recreation and visits took their cups and got water. One of the ladies came with water after a long time and I told her Phil got them water Many times their beds were stripped and nobody came back to put clean sheets on.
If you know somebody staying there you have to visit or some do not do their job.

If only a negative rating was possible. Worst worst worst most disrespectful degrading filthy facility staff is rude extremely disrespectful and they all should be ashamed of themselves . My mother is on hospice she was placed in a room with another lady who does nothing but scream all day and night for help cursing throwing items on the floor . Never a nurse anywhere the staff is pathetic to say the least . There is zero dignity given to a person on hospice no privacy period the family was all there to say our last goodbyes to our mother and here walks in a staff member and says trays are here and places a tray in front of my mother who has now not been even able to swallow water let alone a jail house bologna sandwich, we were told my mother would be comfortable and pain-free that has been the complete opposite when she is able to get any words out its only been gasping for air choking and gagging on saliva and belting ow. For hours I sat there and watched my mother struggle for each breath I would ring for a nurse and 10 , 15. 20 min goes by until im high tailing to the end of the hall screaming and hollering for help because there to busy sticking there noses up at me and watching tik toks. The other day my mom when she was still all there she asked for over 2 hours for a damn glass of water I left work and walked in there to tell them myselves my mother needs a damn glass of water 4 staff members and a supervisor later a get a glass of water handed to me not my mom to me . Why do I have to leave work because my mother for 2 HOURS IS ASKING FOR DAMN WATER . THIS PLACE IS A FLOP . SHAME ON THIS FACILTY MY MOTHER DESERVED BETTER THAN THIS AND I HOPE TO GOD KARMA VISITS EACH ONE OF THEM PERSONALLY. Whoever is in charge of this place should be fired for failing so miserably at running this facility. The food is disgusting they give yo patients i would not even feed it to hogs . The place smells it needs to be knocked down and made in to a damn wawa . Don't ever bring your family here they will be neglected to the fullest. I will be contacting every ageny there is and reporting it and every staff member I have written there names down . I recorded every time I was in there to prove my review I dare someone to question or deny I will have no problem with handing it to the news themselves to expose this place .
