I was so impressed by this amazing archeological site and it’s little museum in Mesa. It cost only $5 for adults (my husband and I only needed to pay $5 for both of us) to visit the whole site and the museum. Very nice and friendly staff. I highly recommend visiting this place.

We went there for some special educational event. Not too much to see. Some old man was there on sight, a tour guide or something who bothered us, he went on with his speech following us around, it isn’t a big place, the kids were unable to understand him and lost interest and we couldn’t get him to leave us alone then he started telling us we need to make our kids listen to him. Super odd. He was so strange and irritating we left. It was interesting but whoever that educator was needs to have some situational awareness as to who his audience is. He knew a lot but he was completely oblivious that the group wasn’t interested after five minutes of his unsolicited history lesson. Such a strange experience, we went running out of there.

Although this Hohokam platform mound has not been totally excavated, there is a lot of information about it. The SWAT (Southwest Archaeology Team) is there giving visitors very detailed information and the small visitors center has some great artifacts. There are small areas that have been uncovered to show the original walls. Wear a hat, good shoes to walk in, sunscreen, and bring a camera. There are restrooms in the visitors center. The path is a little rough in areas around the platform and may be tough in spots for wheelchairs but possible. The path that runs on the top of the platform is not suitable for wheelchairs. Please allow up to two hours to visit this site.

Excellent presentations of history. History you won't learn in the books that existed in 1100 - 1400 AD. To understand the tribes the existed during this time you might want to walk the land.

Great archeological site! It's a great learning experience! There are constant discoveries and the staff is amazing. I am an MCC student and we dig during the spring, the professors will more than welcome any questions you have if they are on site.
