Daughter and son enjoyed the trip to the historical landmarks. They were able to to getting a understanding of how they lived back in those times as well as the history. It was part of the merit badge requirements for the Scouts. The staff was awesome in teaching them about primitive living.

I visited on one of the first Saturday events and thoroughly enjoyed the tour of the home given by a relative of the McDowell's. Good insight into life back then and some history of the area. They are open only at certain times of the year so I recommend following Historic Burke Foundation on social media to find out.

The guide was wonderful and explained any questions me and my grandson had for him! This is a wonderful piece of history for Burke County and is something that schools should take students to on field trips so they can learn about our history! It is a very beautiful place and the restoration they have done and are continuing to do is great! Truly loved this experience today!! Thank you historical society for your great work on preserving our history!

Rebecca was my tour guide. She was very knowledgeable about the house and families who have lived there. I learned alot. She made it fun telling ghost stories and family history. The house was full of period antiques. What a treat!
