We took our grandkids to the museum and jail as part of an outing. It was very, very popular with all of us. Both the museum and the old jail were fascinating. Our 9 year old was impressed by how tough the maximum security cells were. Great history outing!

This was our second time coming here. The gentleman at the front desk gave us a history lesson on the jail and stories involving the people who inhabited the jail and then sent us off to explore. There was so much to see from information about the women's suffrage movement, native American artifacts, murder weapons from the 1800s, artifacts from the jail, the courtyard and jail cells..and so much more. It was informative, fun, ominous at times, and just a neat part of history and Warrenton.

We stopped here on a whim while visiting Warrenton and it was well worth it. It was interesting to learn more about the history of Fauquier County and Warrenton, but especially about the jail itself though the many years it was used. Be sure to visit the maximum security area - it was a bit spooky, perfect for October!

What a great museum, great town. The two ancient jail buildings were built in 1808 and 1823, with the original jail courtyard in between. The exhibits inside are excellent and respectful of the county's fascinating history. The docents who work in the museum are just fantastic, super friendly and knowledgeable. Truly a must see.

An AMAZING place to learn about the local history of Fauquier! All the exhibits are full of so much information, but it’s easy to read, making it accessible for any audience. Not to mention, they do other fun events like ghost tours, weddings, and they were even featured on a paranormal show! Whether you’re a local, or just visiting, this is definitely a place to cross off of your Fauquier bucket list!
