The Historic Daniel Boone Home - Defiance, Missouri

If you love history, particularly on daniel boone or pioneer life, you would love seeing this village. Each building is from somewhere else that they relocated here. It's nice seeing all of it in one place, and with the structures being preserved.

We visited as part of a Homeschool group today 9/18/24. The facilities are well kept and take you back in time. We learned how our ancestors went about their lives making yarn out of wool, using wild flowers to decorate clothing, making butter and how they worked with their hand with the tools of the time to make houses. All of the people instructing us in how things were done back then were all very patient and informative. With the exception of the lady showing how the old mill worked and how they ground corn and wheat. She was very short with the kids and at one point grabbed one of the childrens hand when they grabbed some of the corn she had in a bowl for demonstration purposes. The little girl was only being inquisitive and not doing any real harm and the lady could have handled it better.

This is a fascinating step back in history of the home a great American pioneer. I highly recommend paying for the house tour. We found it very interesting and informative. Our tour guide was great, very knowledgeable. The other buildings on the grounds are just as fascinating as they show how people lived and worked back then. The grounds and structures are also very well kept. I highly recommend everyone visiting this fascinating piece of history.

The grounds are well taken care of and there is alot to see. The Boone house is really cool. However what sets this historical site apart from others is the tour guide. He did an amazing job explaining the history and also getting to know everyone in the tour.

This is a beautiful and interesting place to visit. The house and the grounds are well-maintained. I love visiting in the fall, when the trees are changing and the atmosphere feels like you’ve stepped back in time.

The house was built by Daniel Boone's youngest son Nathan Boone, who lived there with his family until they moved further south in 1837. The Boones had moved there from Kentucky in late 1799.

We found this historic site on a whim driving home from Tennessee to Minnesota. Paul was our tour guide. He was excellent! We learned so much that we didn't know about Daniel Boone and his family.
