I know it’s maybe early bc I have only had one appointment with dr Jennifer, but compared to everyone else I’ve seen in the past 30 years I actually love this woman. She’s incredible. She’s empathetic, she listens, she’s kind, and she’s still a human with a sense of humor. I’ve been through a LOT in the past year, and she actually made me feel comfortable enough to open up to her about it. She offered so many avenues of help, INCLUDING herself (not like she’s just trying to push me off onto someone else) and she was just genuine a great human the entire time we spoke. She listened to every issue and concern and we made plans for everything to work one way or another, either in office or by referral, and I’m really happy with that.
All in all she was just a great human and respectfully an amazing doctor as far as I can see.
I do recommend her especially if you’re looking for a female dr, bc I’ve had several in the past and she is just different. I really really appreciate her.

Dr. Nicholson has seen all three of my kids as well as myself. Very friendly and attentive to our concerns. His assessments are thorough and the kids are at ease. The offices are clean and the atmosphere is nice. Only issue is that the chairs in the exam rooms are too close to the doors when they swing open.

Love the doctors. (Late Afternoon) Office staff leaves a horrible impression. They believe each school in Iowa has a different state approved sports physical form. They were able to print the form in office for 2 of my children, but for the 3rd they want me to print it and fax it over. Because in every home in 2024, there should be a fax machine.

This review is NOT about the Altoona Clinic but about the CALL CENTER that every patient has to go through when calling in to TRY TO speak with their doctor or their staff. If I didn’t think the Altoona Clinic was one of the best in the metro area, I would be looking for another provider because of their call center.
Last week on August 31, 2022, I called and asked to speak with Brandi in Dr. Taliaferro’s office. The person said whatever you need I can help you; you don’t need to speak with Brandi. I made the same request to speak to Brandi 3 more times and on ALL 4 requests, the person said you don’t need to speak with Brandi, I can help you with whatever you need. Well, she couldn’t and she gave me incorrect information, so I went back to speaking with Brandi through the Iowa Clinic Portal. This woman was rude and speaking with her was NOT a pleasant experience. This kind of unprofessional behavior is unacceptable. Especially when it’s patients looking to speak with their health care professional and they instead get someone like I did who is rude and dispenses misinformation.
I think if I ask to speak with someone directly, I should be put through to that person or the office they are in. I understand you have a call center that fields all calls for all offices, guess what, it isn’t working!

This office needs to educate themselves on what service is. I spent over 45 minutes waiting in an empty lobby for a scheduled appointment. There were no other patients in the lobby or any cars in the parking lot. Even the front office staff left for their lunch break. It is evident that Dr. Taliaferro cannot schedule her time effectively. The staff is unprofessional and has no compassion for the public. Because I was feeling so ill and waiting so long, I had to leave. Requested the co-pay be refunded (because I did not see a nurse or doctor at all) and they refused to provide receipt or documentation. I then received a cancellation of medical services that included incorrect dates, etc.
If you are looking for a doctor or clinic that cares about their patients, find another provider.

Had to cancell appoinment as a new patient with Dr Nicholson, called in and office personnel did not knows diference left from right , north or south, I explainded my issues and still not able to understood or figure out what exactly i rquested not vwry detail oriented its kinda sad

Had my first visit with Dr Matthew Nicholson. Excellent experience. The staff was friendly and helpful. Dr. Nicholson was very thorough and friendly. I am very happy I made the change. Should have done this a long time ago.
