I love my doctor - Dr. Zelta, and would give her 5 stars. She's the reason I put up with the rest of the terrible experience. What I don't love - every year for my annual check up, the lab order is never there when I go do my lab work. At least now the Hermosa Beach lab is open, so then it becomes my job to run to the doctor's office for lab order. Good luck trying to get through the phone - I'm literally on hold for over 41 minutes to try to reach someone to reschedule my appt, and when someone finally picked up, she hung up on me, so now I'm on hold again.....who has time for this!!!

After an interview they accepted my son as a new patient (if you have HMO or multiple kids or a kid older than a toddler forget about it) with Dr. Rita Tenenbaum. Then they scheduled a checkup visit that only after I hanged up I noticed it is in 3 months and it was their first available appointment!!! Finally, our appointment time arrived. I got there 15 minutes early to fill out the paperwork (usually required for new patients.) After half an hour wait, I asked how long I should wait and the girl upfront told me we just called one person in and there is another one ahead of you. After almost an hour they called the other person in (both patients came after me and I think they were given urgent appointment due to their sick kids (none of them were that sick though, one was sleeping and the other one was playing around). Nevertheless after an hour waits my son started getting frustrated (nothing to entertain him with other than couple of books). I realized I still have to wait at least another 45 min to get called in and probably another 20 min to sit in the exam room to finally meet her highness. I asked the front girl is it normal to wait that long and she replied back with a pride smile “yes, we are busy” like it is an honor. No my dear it is lack of management to not be able to schedule and accommodate your costumers on a timely manner. I ended up leaving after an hour wait without seeing the goddess. My son was healthy and I had an appointment and I had to wait at least for two hours to be seen, I cannot imagine he be sick and I don’t have an appointment how long I have to wait. NEVER EVER GOING BACK!

Patients beware!

Be wary of the doctors. I can't speak for all the doctors there, but the ones I was assigned don't listen, seem uninterested, do not provide solutions, and make you wonder what their grades were in school. Watch out for erroneous testing for things like super-herpes or space-AIDS. Be leery of doctors who order tests for issues you don't have and didn't come in for. Taking your co-pay and passing you onto someone else seems to be the most they do. The doctors should probably get out more and learn about the California environment.

My final straw with this office was when I had to diagnosis myself and then ask for the correct medication to be treated. This occurred on two separate visits so two separate co-pays. Erroneous tests unrelated to what I had were ordered and I was prescribed medication that had zero impact because it was the wrong treatment. I learned later that my condition was severe and life threatening. Fortunately I diagnosed what was wrong in time.

I am thankful to the hiking community for pointing out what plant I had come in contact with while hiking and for my friends who are knowledgeable physicians for coming to my rescue.

The reception staff is very friendly and helpful here. I preferred the staff to the doctors.

To address the review below. Don't worry. After a year with getting nowhere I did take my business elsewhere. In one visit, my new doctor completed and solved all of my concerns immediately. My new doctor and staff scheduled me for followups with professional individuals who could articulate their knowledge. They treated me less like a number without a degree and more like an intelligent human. They were more concerned with building a relationship than they were a paycheck.
