I regret not reading the reviews here before, as it would have saved me a lot of frustration. I scheduled an annual visit with Dr. Desai at UCLA Health in Westlake Village. Typically, annual visits are covered by insurance, even when some health concerns are discussed, but this time, I was shocked to receive a $636 bill after insurance excluding 230$ which i already paid for lab work. It felt like a scam. People are being caught in their unannounced moneytrap. I m so disappointed. When I contacted my insurance company, they informed me that I was billed as if I had seen a specialist, even though Dr. Desai is not one. They advised me to ask UCLA Health’s billing department to correct the coding. After numerous calls and complaints, they reduced part of the charge, but I still ended up paying a lot. This has never happened to me at any other healthcare provider.
The visit itself was underwhelming—the doctor was average. It’s ridiculous to be charged so much for what amounted to a basic review of my health history.
I’m done wasting my time with UCLA Health. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Stay away from this place, please read all the bad reviews. They are horrible. The staff are rude. They made me to get an appointment for full physical check up but when I got there they said the doctor doesn't have time and I have to come back again. They just want your money. And the doctor, Tina Kapadia, who is not even MD, got mad at me because I called her Tina. She said I have to call her dr. Kapadia. She refused to do my visit and she told me to go and get another doctor. All because I called her Tina. She belittled me telling me "did you go to a medical school?" You have to respect me and call me Dr. Kapadia.
Now that I checked her, I found out she's not even MD.
A doctor never cares about that title. The ones who feel less than a real doctor, they keep reminding everyone to call them doctor.
A real good doctor focuses just on patient's health and well being.
Tina Kapadia gave me so much stress knowing that I have a high blood pressure. She obviously doesn't care. And her staff are bunch of lazy people. They called me to know what the appointment is for, instead of looking at my medical record.
To her staff: If you even care and look at the notes and medical record, you would know why the patient has a follow up. That follow up is been requested by the doctor (now that I know it's not a real doctor).
Such a shame that the medical field is packed from people who just care about money and not the patients.

Find a better health care place that won't over charge you. Please listen to all the 1 star reviews. I don't usually write reviews but now I will for not listening to the 1 star warnings before I went there. They're going to over bill your insurance and then you when you get your deductible. The same thing happened to me that others here and elsewhere have mentioned. They charge an exorbitant amount for basically nothing, just going over your health history, the same stuff I had already answered on their portal. It was a waste of time and money. I called billing to question their $$$$ bill, so they changed the code and it was still very expensive. Now I don't get my free annual exam through my insurance because they re-billed it as a "preventative" exam. I'm done wasting my time with ucla health care in Westlake Village. Will never go there again, neither will anyone in my family. The doctor was just average. Like a robot for that healthcare, I guess they all are, from reading the other reviews. It's ridiculous what they charge. Never going to that place again or any of the other ucla health care centers. Imagine how many other patients they've over charged that don't write reviews?

I consider myself EXTREMELY LUCKY : in very difficult & challenging moment of my life I've met Dr. Shahryar Ashouri ! He is my saving grace: super professional , smart, no nonsense modern Doctor with manners of an Old School Doctors from far past. Dr. Ashouri met me immediately after colonoscopy ( also UCLA),he diagnosed Stage 3 rectal cancer & worked my treatment plan. To say, I was scared & devastated, it is NOTHING! Dr. Ashouri went & sat thru my 1st chemo session, talking to me. I will be forever grateful for kindness. I went thru chemo, radiation, more chemo & First surgery. After surgery I didn't feel well at all & again my Oncologist was there to help to put me back on my feet. My bloodwork is fantastic now, getting ready for 2d surgery & seeing my favorite Doctor in UCLA for monthly check up. The communication with my Doctor is easy & fast, he ALWAYS PERSONALLY calls to update me on the results of tests. Now I know at least 6 people ( my clients),who were SAVED by Dr. Ashouri ! Each one of them told me exact same thing I know now: YOU ARE IN THE BEST HANDS !
I highly recommend Shahryar Ashouri ,MD & his team in case You need help in Hematology/Oncology .

Both appointments I made to be seen as a new patient were canceled less than a week before the set appointment. Just letting others know that may happen to you.

Stay away from this place…

- waited 1.5 hours after my scheduled appointment for the doctor to come in.

- Dr. Sabrina C Barata should not be practicing medicine.

- 10 minutes with a Doctor who literally did nothing. a 1.5 hour wait, for something the nurses and doctor “knew” they couldn’t do ahead of time (provide me with a Toradol injection for sciatica)
.
I was made to wait for a “no” basically.

- the doctor brought in the only male nurse when she told me “no”. I guess to make me feel like I’m irrational, after she had just told me everything is fine.

US healthcare system failure is on full display with at this location.

Go somewhere else. You deserve better as a person.

Unless you love being gaslighted…

My poor rating of UCLA Health doesn't have to do with medical care I received, I want to be clear about this. My rating has to do with my negative experience with UCLA administration regarding communication with prospective patients. I have been trying to contact UCLA Health in Westlake Village/Conejo Valley area for 2 weeks now to see about making an appointment with a specialty MD. I have used the 3 forms of communication with administration to try and speak/communicate with someone; email, the text/chat option, and leaving a voicemail. As I write this review I have yet to hear from UCLA Health in Conejo Valley. I have therefore given up. What is the point of implementing various options to communicate with potential patients if there's no follow-up by UCLA health administration ? I come from a UCLA family, and attended UCLA, but I am very disappointed in this experience.
