Very concerned to hear about your board members views on women not pursuing higher education and becoming mothers instead. What will this mean for the policies you’ll be putting forward in regards to women’s admissions and acceptance into programs? We were planning on sending our daughter here, but now I’m not so sure…..

Though most of the faculty have been excellent, the processes at this university rely on students continuing to pay year after year waiting for the university to run dozens of checks on documents for approval. I have spent thousands of dollars at UWF just to wait. The institution is severely understaffed and unorganized. If you are planning to get a graduate degree here, I would urge you to consider your timeframe; your time here will, at some point, be wasted.

They give you parking citations even if you have a permit associated with your car. They try to convince people to go on over-priced study abroad trips using persuasive, scummy sales tactics. They also try to sell students on other things too. They work with the companies that make the books that they "require" for their courses. Sometimes they won't offer a paper copy of the book, only selling a PDF version or even worse and online trial version that only costs a little bit less then then the full price of a hard copy book. (You can sell a hard copy when you're done with it, you can't sell an online trial that has expired) Completely screwing their students out of every penny they possibly can think of. Very disgusting practices.

The new board member at UWF says this about women. Anyone with a daughter should reconsider sending her to this school.

Speaking at a conference in 2021 he labeled “independent women” as “medicated, meddlesome and quarrelsome” and decried colleges and universities as "the citadels of our gynecocracy” — a form of government run by women.

“If we want a great nation, we should be preparing young women to become mothers,” Yenor said, "not finding every reason for young women to delay motherhood until they are established in a career or sufficiently independent.”

Yenor argued that higher education “delays growing up,” saying that college and universities are “indoctrination camps” that society should de-emphasize in order to make progress on “family matters."

“Every effort must be made not to recruit women into engineering, but rather to recruit and demand more of men who become engineers. Ditto for med school and the law and every trade,” Yenor said.

“If every Nobel Prize winner is a man, that’s not a failure. It’s kind of a cause for celebration," he added.

Exceptional regional university. The staff and faculty generally seem to care a great deal about the opportunities for the students to learn and grow academically and personally. The campus is the perfect setting for any nature lovers, with miles of running/biking trails and canoe/kayak options right on campus.

Graduated cum laude in healthcare administration May 2024. 300 applications put in, zero callbacks. All healthcare administration jobs require 3-5 years of experience for their entry level jobs. $12 an hour for a bachelors degree will not even pay for my month students loans.

I am disgusted with how West Florida University treated my wife during her enrollment process. It's been an endless cycle of miscommunications, missed deadlines, and a complete lack of support from their staff.

First, there was a delay in getting her transcripts sent over, through no fault of her own, which caused her to miss the initial application deadline. Okay, understandable, these things happen. But when she reapplied for the next term, she submitted everything on time except for one document a day late.

Instead of showing even a shred of accommodation or humanity, this university completely shut the door in her face without any flexibility. She has been unable to get any help from an enrollment counselor or anyone else on their staff. They don't care about admitting students or understanding individual situations.

My wife is just trying to further her education and better herself by pursuing a master's degree. But rather than assisting her in that goal, West Florida has put up nothing but roadblocks, indifference, and rigid bureaucracy at every turn. It's infuriating!

With how difficult they have made this process and how little they seem to value prospective students, I would strongly caution anyone against attending West Florida University. There are plenty of other schools out there that will support you instead of treating you like a number. Don't make the mistake we did - go somewhere else that will appreciate your pursuit of higher education.

While this school does love its VA money. Not so much the actual veterans. Opt out of this poor experience as fast as you can.
