A great set of 18th C house museums telling the story of Revolutionary War era people from Wethersfield. Knowledgeable tour guide explained the lives of the residents and their political and economic activities, including slaveholding and slave trading as known. Learn about the story of Silas Deane, America's first diplomat, his wives, and children who lived here. The houses are carefully restored and filled with beautiful period furnishings, tools, and artifacts. One of the homes was restored by noted 20th C preservationist and colonial revival advocate Wallace Nutting. The garden is a treasure.

George Washington slept here while planning the final campaigns of the war with French allies Generals Rochembeau and Lafayette.

The entire Wethersfield area is the state's largest Historic and Cultural District, with many preserved homes and buildings open to the public, all telling the story of Colonial and Early American agriculture, fishing, and trading in Central Connecticut along the banks of the Connecticut River.

Sadly only got to experience one of the three houses on a private tour during a wedding. It's small, not toooo much to it, but still extremely interesting and very well maintained. I'm happy to see small places like this continuing to stay afloat, as I usually say, if you like history, come here, I'm always a sucker for history.

I had a pleasant experience taking pictures of the beautiful gardens. Don't forget to bring your Connecticut Garden tour passport booklet.

Three different house tours at once, all homes unique and with their own stories. Our guide was wonderful. The staff was friendly and very accommodating when we showed up at the end of the day. You need a good two hours minimum here to really take it all in.

Definitely worth the $15 ticket price (which is super reasonable for a historic home tour). You get to walk through three homes, all kept in various time capsules of decor and furniture.

The tour guide was excellent and provided a lot of great information and history for our group. Highly recommend!
