Had my six month check up at West Volusia Medical Assoc/Advent Health Medical Doctors.
They have such a smooth and organized procedure. The morning of your appt you will receive a text confirming your appt. You reply. They text you a link, you touch it, it takes you to a screen that says you may now come in wearing a mask and keep distance. You go in, up to check in, they ALL have masks on, they take your temp, ask info and you sit down in spaced out chairs to wait. They call you back and sit you in the exam room. They even have a wonderful space heater to keep you warm😂 The nurse goes through a very thorough info and q & a. She takes your vitals wearing a mask and gloves. Dr comes in with mask and gloves. Goes through your current meds, any concerns, most recent lab work, and asks about overall feelings. Any RX you need refilled is sent direct to your pharmacy. You check out at desk, receive lab request for next time and you set your next appt day and time. That's it.....you walk out, grab some hand sanitizer, push the outer door open with your hip and your good to go😁
All staff wears masks and requires ALL patients to do likewise. Very warm and caring atmosphere. Best anywhere🎖️

My doctor of 18 years at this practice retired. Since he retired, it has been terrible trying to get quality care. Medication‘s are changed without notification to me. Appointments changed and placed with a PA without any choice to me. One month, I am told to go to a specialist the next month the dr is attentive advised me to withdraw from the specialist as he can help me and keep me on the same regimen. Then, this month a refill was called in decreasing my dosage without even a phone call. Then, the doctor calls me and confused me with another patient. I have never been so stressed attending a physician - it’s heart wrenching to be treated like a number they aren’t familiar with - after 18 years of attending this practice. It’s sad, because this practice used to be very loving, caring and assertive to your needs.

I have been going here for about 10 yrs, it is a good practice but I too have felt the front staff did not make me feel welcome. In fact, there were times I felt they acted very condescending. That did get better over the past year. My current physician is Dr. Griffith and she is very nice and puts a positive spin on how to improve your health. The practice has been in a state of transition for a couple of years now, but things are smoothing out.

Copy/paste of the complaint filed with the Joint Commission today.

I would like to submit a complaint against the Physician Office Coordinator of the Advent Health facility located in DeLand, Pamela Woody.

Today, I took my daughter into the office to see her new doctor, Dr. Reginald Schutte-Aine. I’ve been seeing him for several years and she needed to move from a pediatrician to a GP. We made the appointment quite a while ago through the scheduler. I had asked Dr. Schutte-Aine’s nurse if she could be seen at 17 and she said yes. So I called the office and made an appointment.

When we arrived at the desk to check in, we were told that the office only sees patients 18 and up. I asked why that was, and also why we weren’t told that upon scheduling? The person at the front desk then went to get Pamela Woody to answer my questions as she said she wasn’t sure. Once Pamela arrived, she asked how I scheduled the appointment. I told her that I had scheduled it like I schedule every other appointment. Through what I thought was a nurse. I actually have a voicemail that I referred to from Dr. Schutte-Aine’s nurse Kim asking me to schedule the appointment. Ms. Woody responded by reviewing the file to see that I had scheduled it through the answering service. “That’s your problem. They don’t know about the age restrictions.” I responded by saying, “I think in the future they should probably be made aware of that so they don’t make this kind of mistake again.” Immediately Ms. Woody says, “you know if you’re here for controlled substances, our doctors are limiting that.” I was so shocked I wasn’t sure what to say. Again she says, this could’ve all been avoided if you’d just made the appointment through us. Which, I thought I was. As the answering service doesn’t say they don’t work in the office. She then reverted back to the controlled substances by reminding us that we would not be getting them. After the third time of her bringing it up, I felt like I had to tell her why were there (for testing) just to get her to stop accusing my 17 year old daughter and I of being drug addicts, loudly in front of the entire waiting room. Once I was finally able to get a new appointment date, she said, “see this appointment will work because we did it, not the answering service.” I just told her she was rude and walked out.

I am beyond disgusted at the way this was handled. It is unacceptable that my 17 year old would have to be subjected to that. I have never been so embarrassed and angry at a person in a doctors office in my life. I’m sure there are camera recordings of the interaction. Please request them and review them. This cannot happen to anyone else.

The woman at the front desk with brown hair and glasses is so slow it's actually painful to be there. Every time I'm there I'm re asked every question, phone number and insurance and yet they still call my boyfriends phone to contact me? I just went in to pick up a prescription and she tells me to sign in. Okay. 15 minutes later I'm still sitting there because she just keeps checking people in and helping the line. I finally go up and ask the other woman to just give it to me and all she does is pull my prescription out of a folder that is sitting right on the desk. That's all they had to do. Why wouldn't you just grab it for me and then continue with the line. So beyond aggravating. So so so slow and can't multi task. I swear I feel like I need to see a doctor for my stress and aggravation after I leave there.

Don’t waste your time here, go to Family Practice of West Volusia. However, if you MUST go here, see Nurse Practitioner Karen, she’s amazing. I had to see PA Courtney once and left the office in tears. I was pregnant and she told me I couldn’t take my antidepressant (or any medicine ever while pregnant or breast feeding). All of which is false, when I called my OBGYN distraught she calmed me down and told me not to see that PA again. Additionally, while pregnant I’d try to see NP Karen but the front desk told me they wouldn’t see me, I had to see my OBGYN. That’s when I decided to finally leave this office, FPoWV had no problem seeing me while I was pregnant and the staff and doctors are great.

Been going here for Several years Doctor Montaldo is awesome ....Staff in the office very incompetent ! ... Information called into Doctor never gets to him and if it does it's incorrect. Called in for a refill I take 1 med in 2 different dosages ...they always get them screwed up and forgot one or the other . And when they call you about something it's always at close so you can never return their call... Totally asanine seems like a factory now not a doctor's office .

The front desk staff is RUDE and very unorganized! They continuously give out the wrong information which makes the patients run around in circles and waste precious time. Pam in the back on the other hand is GREAT! She is always pleasant and very helpful.
