Popped by the museum with my family and had the wonderful pleasure of meeting Bob (with the rad long hair and beard). He shared so many amazing stories about Edwin Carter, his taxidermy collection and the animals of Breckenridge. We were so impressed by Bob’s enthusiasm and passion. What a lovely little museum! We had a great time and recommend it to anyone visiting Breckenridge.

Visited with my boyfriend! I wasn’t sure what to expect when we saw this museum in town but we were immediately blown away upon walking in. Bob taught us quite a lot of history and entertained us with stories for over an hour. He is very passionate and we had some great conversations. You will not be disappointed!!

Bob is the best guide you could ever ask for! He took an entire hour to explain everything about Edwin Carter to me. He knows so much and was very patient, even though my English as a German isn’t perfect. A big thank you, and the visit is absolutely worth it!

Really unique museum about conservation efforts in the 1880’s and the life of a really interesting man in Breckenridge’s history. Bob with a beard was so interesting to talk to and had some really cool stories about so many pieces. He is very knowledgeable and answered so many questions we had!
Don’t go if you are creeped out by taxidermy, but I thought it was a great activity to do in town that taught me a lot about this town’s history!

We just happen to wander into the Edwin Carter Museum on a whim while visiting Breckenridge. Such a great little museum. Our guide, Bob, the man in Black; was very welcoming and extremely informative.
Thank you Bob!

We saw this little museum randomly and decided to step in. What a lovely surprise. This place is believed to be the second oldest museum in all of Colorado. In my opinion it’s must-see for everyone who’s walking around downtown Breckenridge. Edwin Carter was an early mid 1800's naturalist who practiced taxidermy as a way to preserve different animal species for the future. Inside the museum are found several explanation signs and many animal collections. It’s very interesting.
The museum is free to visit but donations are appreciated. We really enjoyed it and had a nice talk with the guide. Thank you!
