I have been waiting in the lobby for nearly 9 hours with 10 other people, the excuses we got was we are short staffed at the moment. There was a man in the lobby that had a fever of 102, chest pains, coughing, and heart issues…. I remember when you came in with that issues you got seen right away and this guys bless his heart, I was more concerned for him than for myself. I will never visit this hospital ever again. This is the worst experience ever. The front desk could have at least offered water, blankets something for making us wait so long. If I could leave NO star I would! Very disappointed !! Please don’t come here!

This place is amazing. My daughter had day surgery and it has been nothing but great. Clean, friendly, professional. Since the moment we walked in, we have been informed on every detail…I.e. time, patient status, visitor needs addressed, etc. I am a nurse and picky. This facility is impressive!!!!

Took my mom into ER for treatment for a UTI. 3x in less than a month. First time was incredible experience with hospitalist, Dr. Miller. Even the Chaplain and Nursing staff fantastic. She was discharged with 2days antibiotic before lab results on specific bacteria. So we can only assume the UTI came back because specific bacteria not targeted. So within a week we were back at Novant Matthews ER. 3nd experience not as great as first but they were extremely overwhelmed with number of sick. Mom was not admitted. So we took her home. 1 week later UTI was even more “acute” to quote the new to us hospitalist assigned to treat our mom.

However the 3rd time was far from the charm. 25 hours in ER. After we were assigned a room in the Er. Before that we sat in a cold hallway for 6-8 hours. The hospital staff was overwhelmed. It is small snd the numbers of patients there overwhelming. But the way mom was treated was vastly different. We were assigned a hospitalist, Dr Patel. If we asked questions we were treated indifferently and referred to MyChart for answers. The chart contained no lab results. Mom was admitted and the care she received from staff was minimal at best. For instance laying in urine on a chix pad for hours. Limited contact with a nurse. Some nurses outstanding and others minimal at best. It was documented by the charge nurse in the ED. She deteriorated pretty quickly. Ask for answers and you can only get run around answers. We can only assume she was placed in palliative care as someone decided our mom was demented, non ambulatory and bed ridden. Mom was not bed ridden when she arrived. Transferred to toilet chair and bed with assistance. Cognitive decline, yes. Non ambulatory and bed ridden no. Maybe now. Wound care to look at feet, we thought they came to treat her feet. No only assess. “If they get worse the nurse should call us.” No photo in chart said nurse. But no wound care said the nurse didnt know where to look in My Chart for photo. Communication with drs nurses staff and family and patient should be better. We should be a team. Not subjects in their kingdom. We are disappointed in the communication at this facility and as a result of decisions and orders made without clear care plan. First iv fluid discontinued at 9:00am. Then while awaiting discharge an IV specialist shows up to put mom on IV fluids. Sounds crazy but living through it is a nightmare. I would never leave a patient here without an advocate. Informed consent is a requirement for patients and their families. There is a good reason for that. Unless profit consideration is the fundamental determining factor. Ultimately their PT person had assessed our mom and where and what level care we should have her admitted to- his recommendation was not an assisted living but rather skilled nursing facility. Who the heck asked for his input he is not a dr and did not know our mother and her baseline capabilities.

Update we waited after the hospital pharmacist informed us they needed to correct the pharmacy location. 1-2 hours wait. We got to the corrected desired pharmacy only to learn the hospital sent prescription to the wrong pharmacy. Mistakes happen. We all know and can appreciate that. But how many mistakes before trust is damaged. We are talking about a human mother not a pet.

Its unfortunate that I have to write a review about my experience at this hospital. I was in labor and scheduled for a c-section the next day but wanted to try for vaginal delivery and what made the circumstance worse I was COVID positive so of course I had no one in the room with me. I also had left lower lobe pneumonia. After the c-section my pain wasn't well managed. I would hate to say its because I'm brown skinned but what else can I say. I just had a c-section, intermittent periods of coughing, I have COVID and pneumonia. The nurse said to me that I could only have Tylenol because I'm not going home with narcotics. I didn't ask to go home with a narcotic I just wanted my pain to be well managed. None of the nurses wanted to come into my room they clustered their care and I was the one emptying my foley catheter. I had to sleep in the reclining chair the whole time because like I said no one was there to help me with my child if i put her to bed and made an attempt to get in my bed who was going to help me up. That's major surgery where abdominal muscles are required when attempting to get up. The NP was so unprofessional. She gowned up and had the nerve to ask me to wear a mask when she came in to assess my daughter. Are you going to ask the baby to wear a mask as well? Make it make sense; I'm kissing on my daughter all day......me! who is COVID positive but you have to the nerve to be all gowned up and ask me to wear a mask. This is how hospitals treat other healthcare works....WOW do better.....because I am a Registered ER Nurse 4 year degree at that.

I went in for a Sits Markers test. Everyone from the front desk to the nurse helpers and the one who took the Xray, were just great, very nice, helpful, comforting. The young lady taking the xray went the xtra mile to update an order that took me 5 mths. to show up and do it.
At radiology, everyone is doing their job in a caring manner. Not sure why people expect them to behave like they are their therapist, when just kind, polite , professional should do it. Thank you all. See you soon:)!

When you go to this hospital you will be charged +$3,000 for their services and you will also receive other bills from third parties charging you for the services that the doctor provided.

I asked when I consented to this, I was told that I consented when I came into the emergency room, before being taken in. SO basically when I was in a wheel chair with one of the worst pains that I've ever experienced, without being able to move, there, was when they asked me to sign a pad. THATS WHERE I CONSENTED TO THIS.

HOW IS THIS ETHICAL?

I am not one to leave bad reviews but, I'm upset

If you want to be charged by 3 different places by just going to one, please have an emergency and go to this hospital. I went due to a pain, that had me feeling like I was about to die. I have insurance so I provided them with my insurance.

I specifically told the lady that came into the room asking for the information to grab my insurance info and I gave her an extra member Id in case of any trouble...

1. First bill comes in the mail - full amount bill. They have not put in my insurance, after a month and a half of providing me my services!!!

I called Novant and I was told that they would take care of my insurance issues and disregard the bill.

after a few weeks, My Novant bill is now $0.00 great.

Unfortunately bills didn't stop coming.

2. second bill comes - from a third party charging me for ER services provided.

3. Third bill comes in - third party charging for the readings of my radiology services.

How is this possible? how is this okay? I'm overwhelmed and confused. As a person that does not have a job and luckily has insurance, I don't understand how is it possible or even ethical. for you to go to a hospital to get services and get charged from other 3? Who did I give consent to send my radiology information to another company "read them" and then to charge me for them?

I feel taken advantage of! How is it that you don't receive VERBAL CONSENT THAT YOU WILL BE CHARGED FROM 2 OTHER DIFFERENT PLACES? I don't even remember signing papers agreeing to these terms, and even if I did, like the third parties guarantee they did, I WAS GIVEN NARCOTICS, at the time due to my pain, HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO CONSENT IN THOSE CONDITIONS?

This is so disrespectful and overwhelming, at this point is better to freaking suffer, instead of going to the hospital.

All this trouble for them just to tell me to go to my gyno. seriously? all those exams to just tell me to go to my gyno?

I'm currently calling novant health to get copies of the documents "I consented for" because this is just a nasty mess.

Way to take advantage of people's medical needs!
